Contaminated and uncontaminated
ཟག་པ་དམིགས་པ་དང་མཚུངས་ལྡན་གང་རུང་གི་སྒོ་ནས་རྣམ་པ་ཀུན་ཏུ་རྒྱས་པར་འགྱུར་བས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བ། ཟག་བཅས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of contaminated: That distinguished by thorough increase of contamination by way of either observation or concomitance.
ཟག་པ་དམིགས་པ་དང་མཚུངས་ལྡན་གང་རུང་གི་སྒོ་ནས་རྣམ་པ་ཀུན་ཏུ་རྒྱས་པར་མི་འགྱུར་བས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བ། ཟག་མེད་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of uncontaminated: That distinguished by thorough non-increase of contamination by way of either observation or concomitance.
ཆོས་ཐམས་ཅད་ཟག་བཅས་ཟག་མེད་གཉིས་སུ་བསྡུས།
All phenomena are included in these two.
གཞི་གྲུབ་ན་ཟག་བཅས་ཟག་མེད་གང་རུང་ཡིན་པས་མ་ཁྱབ་སྟེ། དངོས་པོ་དེ་ཡང་དེ་གཉིས་གང་རུང་མ་ཡིན། ལྷག་མེད་མྱང་འདས་ཀྱི་ཐོབ་པ། སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཐོབ་པ། འཕགས་པའི་རིགས་བཞི། སོ་སྐྱེའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་གང་ཟག་གི་བདག་མེད་རྟོགས་པའི་ཤེས་རབ་རྣམས་དེ་གཉིས་གང་རུང་མ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
If it is an established-basis, then it is not pervaded by being either contaminated or uncontaminated because 1) functioning thing is neither of those two and 2) the attainment of nirvana without remainder, the attainment of buddhahood, the four types of aryas, and the wisdom realising the selflessness of persons in the continua of ordinary beings are neither of those two.
དང་པོ་གྲུབ་སྟེ། འདུས་མ་བྱས་ཀྱི་ནམ་མཁའ་དང༌། ལམ་བདེན་གཉིས་ཀ་ཟག་མེད་དང་དངོས་པོའི་གཞི་མཐུན་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The first is established because uncompounded space and true paths are both common loci of uncontaminated and functioning thing.
ཕྱི་མ་རྣམས་གྲུབ་སྟེ། འདུས་བྱས་དང་ཟག་མེད་ཀྱི་གཞི་མཐུན་ཡིན་ན་ལམ་བདེན་ཡིན་དགོས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The latter are established because if it is a common locus of compounded and uncontaminated, then it is necessarily true paths.
ལམ་བདེན་མ་གཏོགས་པའི་འདུས་བྱས་རྣམས་ཆོས་ཅན། ཟག་བཅས་ཡིན་ཏེ། གོང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད་དེའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - compounded phenomena excluding true paths - they are contaminated because of the above definition.
ལམ་བདེན་དང་འདུས་མ་བྱས་གསུམ་ཡང་ཆོས་ཅན། ཟག་མེད་ཡིན་ཏེ། མཚན་ཉིད་དེའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - true paths and the three uncompounded phenomena - they are uncontaminated because of the above definition.
Contaminated has many synonyms: ཟག་བཅས་ཀྱི་མིང་གི་རྣམ་གྲངས་ལ་དུ་མ་ཡོད་དེ།
- Appropriated aggregates (ཉེར་ལེན་གྱི་ཕུང་པོ།):
- Because of arising from their appropriating [i.e. substantial] cause and acting to produce their appropriated [i.e. substantial] effect ཉེར་ལེན་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། རང་རྒྱུ་ཉེར་ལེན་ལས་བྱུང༌། རང་འབྲས་ཉེར་ལེན་སྐྱེད་པར་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་དང༌།
- Because of being from the appropriation that is its motivation
རང་གི་ཀུན་སློང་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་ཉེར་ལེན་ལས་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - For example: དཔེར་ན།
- Fire arisen from grass is called a "grass-fire" རྩ་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་མེ་ལ་རྩའི་མེ་དང་སྨན་དང་།
- Trees that produce medicine and flowers are called "medicinal tree" and "flowering tree"
མེ་ཏོག་སྐྱེད་པའི་ཤིང་ལ་སྨན་དང་མེ་ཏོག་གི་ཤིང༌། - People who depend upon the king are called "the king's people"
རྒྱལ་པོ་ལ་རག་ལས་པའི་མི་ལ་རྒྱལ་པོའི་མི་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པ་བཞིན་ནོ།
- Quarrelsome (འཐབ་བཅས།): Because of harming self and others འཐབ་བཅས་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། རང་གཞན་ལ་གནོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
- Suffering (སྡུག་བསྔལ།): Because of being discordant with the Aryas སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། འཕགས་པ་དང་མི་མཐུན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
- Origin (ཀུན་འབྱུང༌།): Because all suffering originate from those ཀུན་འབྱུང་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། ཁྱོད་ལས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཀུན་འབྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར།
- World / Disintegration-support (འཇིག་རྟེན།): Because of momentarily disintegrating and disintegrating through antidotes འཇིག་རྟེན་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། སྐད་ཅིག་གིས་འཇིག་ཅིང༌། གཉེན་པོས་ཀྱང་འཇིག་པའི་ཕྱིར།
- Source of views (ལྟ་གནས།): Because its observation acts to increase views
ལྟ་གནས་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། ཁྱོད་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་ལྟ་བ་རྒྱས་པར་འགྱུར་བའི་ཕྱིར། - Existence / Samsara (སྲིད་པ།): Because of cycling in repeated existence སྲིད་པ་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ། ཡང་སྲིད་དུ་འཁོར་བའི་ཕྱིར།
