རྣ་བའི་རྣམ་པར་ཤེས་པའི་ཐུན་མོང་མ་ཡིན་པའི་བདག་རྐྱེན་བྱེད་པའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་ནང་གི་གཟུགས་ཅན་དང་བར་དམིགས་པ།
རྣ་བའི་དབང་པོ་གཟུགས་ཅན་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: That observed as a clear inner form distinguished by abiding in the class of acting as the uncommon empowering condition of the ear-consciousness.

རྣ་བའི་དབང་པོ་ནི་དབང་རྟེན་གྱི་དབུས་ན་དབྱིབས་གྲོ་གའི་བཙུས་མདུང་ལྟ་བུ། ངོ་བོ་སྒྲའི་སྐྱེ་མཆེད་སྣང་བའི་ཤིན་ཏུ་དང་བ་གཅིག་ཡོད།
The ear-faculty exists in the middle of the faculty-support, its shape is like curled birch bark, and its nature is a very clear [form] for the appearance of sound-sources.

རྣ་བ། ཉན་པ། སྒྲ་འཛིན། ཉན་བྱེད་སོགས་རྣམ་གྲངས་སུ་གསུངས་སོ།
Ear, listener, sound-catcher, listener, and so forth are synonyms.
