Individual liberation vows

རང་གི་མི་མཐུན་ཕྱོགས་སུ་གྱུར་པའི་འཆལ་ཚུལ་གྱི་གཉེན་པོའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་ཆོས་འདི་པའི་སྤོང་བ་གཟུགས་ཅན་པ་ཡང་ཡིན།
འདོད་པའི་སས་བསྡུས་པ་ཡང་ཡིན་པའི་གཞི་མཐུན་པར་དམིགས་པ། སོ་ཐར་གྱི་སྡོམ་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: That observed as a common locus of:

1. Being a Buddhist physical abandonment distinguished by abiding in the class of antidotes to the faulty ethics that are their discordant class; and
2. Being included in the level of the Desire Realm.

སྐབས་འདིར་སོ་ཐར་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ་ལ་གཟུགས་ཅན་གྱིས་ཁྱབ་སྟེ། འཆལ་ཚུལ་ལ་མི་དགེ་བའི་གཟུགས་ཅན་གྱིས་ཁྱབ་པའི་ཕྱིར།
In this context, the individual liberation vows are pervaded by being physical because faulty ethics are pervaded by being physical non-virtues.

དབྱེ་ན་སོ་ཐར་རིགས་བརྒྱད།
When divided: there are the eight types of individual liberation vows.

If subsumed by way of the support: བསྡུ་ན་རྟེན་གྱི་སྒོ་ནས།

1. Householder individual liberation vows ཁྱིམ་པའི་སོ་ཐར་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ།
2. Ordained individual liberation vows རབ་བྱུང་གི་སོ་ཐར་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ།

By way of substance-type: རྫས་རིགས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་ནས།

1. Gelong vows དགེ་སློང༌གི་སྡོམ་པ།
2. Getsul vows དགེ་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ།
3. Lay (upāsaka) vows དགེ་བསྙེན་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ།
4. Temporary vows བསྙེན་གནས་ཀྱི་སྡོམ་པ།
