Mental-source

རྣམ་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཕུང་པོ། ཡིད་ཀྱི་སྐྱེ་མཆེད། ཡིད་ཀྱི་ཁམས་རྣམས་དོན་གཅིག
The Consciousness aggregate, mental-source, and mental constituent are mutually inclusive.

ཡིད་ཁམས་ལ་བདུན་ཡོད་དེ། འཇུག་ཤེས་དྲུག་གི་སྟེང་དུ་བདུན་པ་ཡིད་ཁམས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་བསྣན་པས་དེ་ལྟར་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There are seven mental constituents, added on top of the six operating consciousnesses.

བདུན་པ་ཡིད་ཁམས་བཞག་ཏུ་ཡོད་དེ།
འཇུག་ཤེས་ཚོགས་དྲུག་རང་རང་གི་དུས་ན་འདས་ཤིང་རང་གི་སྔ་ལོགས་དེ་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་བྱུང་བའི་རྣམ་པར་ཤེས་པ་དེ་དེ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
That seventh mental constituent exists because it is: A consciousness that is in the past of its respective six types of operating consciousnesses and arises immediately preceding those.

དེ་བཞག་པ་ལ་དོན་ཡོད་དེ། དྲུག་པ་ཡིད་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པར་ཤེས་པའི་རྐྱེན་ཐུན་མོང་མ་ཡིན་པ་བསྒྲུབ་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There is a purpose for positing it: It is in order to establish an uncommon condition of the sixth, i.e. the mental consciousness.
