Non-revealing forms

ཁྱད་ཆོས་ལྔ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་རང་ཀུན་ནས་སློང་བའི་སེམས་གཞན་གྱིས་ཇི་ལྟ་བ་བཞིན་དུ་རྣམ་པར་རིག་པར་བྱེད་པ་མ་ཡིན་པ་ཡང་ཡིན།
རང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཐ་སྙད་འཇུག་པ་གཟུགས་ལ་རག་ལས་པ་ཡང་ཡིན་པའི་གཞི་མཐུན་པར་དམིགས་པ་དེ། རྣམ་པར་རིག་བྱེད་མ་ཡིན་པའི་གཟུགས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: By way of possessing the five attributes, it is that observed as the common locus of:

1. Not being that acting to accurately reveal to others about one's motivational intention; and
2. Being that whose applied terms depend upon form.

That possesses the five attributes of: ཁྱད་ཆོས་ལྔ་དང་ལྡན་ཏེ།

1. Occasion གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ཁྱད་པར།
   i.e. also existing on the occasion of a distracted mind and a mindless meditative absorption
   སེམས་གཡེངས་བ་དང༌། སེམས་མེད་ཀྱི་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གཉིས་ཀྱི་གནས་སྐབས་ན་ཡང་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
2. Nature ངོ་བོའི་ཁྱད་པར།
   i.e. being either virtuous or non-virtuous དགེ་མི་དགེ་གང་རུང་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
3. Time དུས་ཀྱི་ཁྱད་པར།
   i.e. being connected to a later continuum རྒྱུན་མཆོག་ཏུ་རྗེས་སུ་འབྲེལ་བའི་ཕྱིར།
4. Cause རྒྱུའི་ཁྱད་པར།
   i.e. arising through its causative four great elements acting as its causes
   རང་གི་རྒྱུར་གྱུར་བའི་འབྱུང་བ་ཆེན་པོ་བཞི་རྒྱུར་བྱས་པ་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར།
5. Terminology ངེས་ཚིག་གི་ཁྱད་པར་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
   i.e. not revealing to others one's motivational intention, but its applied terms depend upon form
   རང་ཀུན་ནས་སློང་བའི་སེམས་གཞན་གྱིས་རྣམ་པར་རིག་པར་བྱེད་པ་མ་ཡིན་པར་རང་གི་ཐ་སྙད་འཇུག་པ་གཟུགས་ལ་རག་ལས་པའི་ཕྱིར།

Purpose of each attribute:

1. In order to eliminate mind, non-virtuous minds, and the two types of absorptions
   དེ་དག་སེམས་མི་དགེ་བའི་སེམས་སྙོམས་འཇུག་རྣམ་པ་གཉིས་བཅད་པའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
2. In order to eliminate attainments of the eye and eye-consciousness
   མིག་དང་མིག་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཐོབ་པ་རྣམས་གཅད་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
3. In order to eliminate revealing forms རྣམ་པར་རིག་བྱེད་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་རྣམས་གཅད་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
4. In order to eliminate attainments of virtue and non-virtue དགེ་མི་དགེའི་ཐོབ་པ་རྣམས་གཅད་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
5. In order for it to be understood that they are merely expressed as such by Acarya Vasubhandu
   དེ་ལྟར་དུ་སློབ་དཔོན་དབྱིག་གཉེན་གྱིས་བརྗོད་པར་བྱ་བ་ཙམ་ཡིན་པར་རྟོགས་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།

རྣམ་པར་རིག་བྱེད་མ་ཡིན་པའི་གཟུགས་ཆོས་ཅན།
(Gendun Drub:) The subject - non-revealing forms -

• They are not conjoined because of being unobstructive མ་ཟིན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཐོགས་མེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
• They are arisen from concordant-causes because apart from the initial moment of an arya, they arise from their homogenous causes རྒྱུ་མཐུན་ལས་བྱུང་བ་ཡིན་ཏེ། དང་པོ་འཕགས་པ་མ་གཏོགས་སྐལ་མཉམ་གྱི་རྒྱུ་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར།
• They are not arisen from fruition because of being definitely either virtue or non-virtue
  རྣམ་སྨིན་ལས་མ་བྱུང་སྟེ། དགེ་མི་དགེ་གང་རུང་དུ་ངེས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
• They are not arisen from development because of not being a physical thing remaining upon aggregation
  རྒྱས་བྱུང་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། བསགས་པར་གནས་པའི་གཟུགས་ཅན་མ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
• They are indicative of sentient beings because of being included within the continuum
  སེམས་ཅན་དུ་སྟོན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། རྒྱུད་ཀྱིས་བསྡུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།

Division (3): Non-revealing forms that are རྣམ་པར་རིག་བྱེད་མ་ཡིན་པའི་གཟུགས་གསུམ་ཡོད་དེ།

1. Vows སྡོམ་པ།
2. Non-vows སྡོམ་མིན།
3. Intermediate བར་མ།

1. Arising through gathering འདུས་པ་ལས་གྱུར་པ།

4. Completely imputed ཀུན་བཏགས་པ།
5. Conjured དབང་འབྱོར་བ།
