Proof in scriptures for non-revealing forms
རྣམ་པར་རིག་བྱེད་མ་ཡིན་པའི་གཟུགས་ཡོད་པར་ལུང་རིགས་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་གྲུབ་སྟེ།
The existence of non-revealing forms is established by both scriptures and reasoning:
Indications in sutra of the three: མདོ་ལས།
- Forms that are demonstrative and obstructive བསྟན་དུ་ཡོད་ལ་ཐོགས་པ་དང་བཅས་པའི་གཟུགས།
- Forms that are non-demonstrative and obstructive བསྟན་དུ་མེད་ལ་ཐོགས་པ་དང་བཅས་པའི་གཟུགས།
- Forms that are non-demonstrative and non-obstructive བསྟན་མེད་ཐོགས་མེད་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་
The latter is referring to these. གསུམ་གསུངས་པའི་ཕྱི་མ་འདི་ལ་དགོངས་པའི་ཕྱིར་དང༌།
དྲི་མེད་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་གསུངས་པའང་འདི་ལ་དགོངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
References to "Stainless forms" also refer to these.
རྫས་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན་དང༌། རྫས་ལས་བྱུང་བ་མ་ཡིན་པའི་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན།
ཡིད་གཞན་དུ་གཡེངས་པ་ནའང་རྣམ་པར་འཕེལ་བར་གསུངས་པ་འདི་ལ་དགོངས་ནས་གསུངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Statements that the seven merits arisen from substance and the seven merits not arisen from substance continue increasing even if the mind is distracted elsewhere are also referring to these.
སྲོག་གཅོད་སོགས་རང་གིས་མ་བྱས་ཀྱང་གཞན་ལ་བཅོལ་བས་ལས་ལམ་གྱི་དངོས་གཞི་འབྱུང་བར་གསུངས་པ་ཡང་འདི་ལ་དགོངས་ནས་གསུངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Statements that despite not personally engaging in killing and so forth, making someone else do it gives rise to an actual karmic pathway are also referring to these.
སོགས་པས་་་་་་ འདི་ལ་དགོངས་ནས་གསུངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The "and so forth" includes these statements referring to these:
- Statements that the eight branches of arya paths of one in meditative equipoise on the path of seeing exist
མཐོང་ལམ་ལ་མཉམ་པར་བཞག་པའི་འཕགས་ལམ་ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་ཡོད་པར་གསུངས་པ་དང༌། - Statements that when the Gelong's mind is distracted elsewhere, they possess the Gelong vows
དགེ་སློང་ཡིད་གཞན་དུ་གཡེང་བའི་ཚེ། དགེ་སློང་གི་སྡོམ་པ་དང་ལྡན་པར་གསུངས་པ། - Statements that the individual liberation vows are like a damn
སོ་ཐར་གྱི་སྡོམ་པ་ཆུ་ལོན་ལྟར་གསུངས་པ། - Statements about forms that are phenomenon-sources ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐྱེ་མཆེད་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་གསུངས་པ་རྣམས་
རྫས་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན་ནི། སྐུལ་བྱེད་ཀྱི་མདོ་ལས། ཀུན་དགའ་ར་བ་གཙུག་ལག་ཁང༌། །མལ་སྟན་འཚོ་བ་ནར་མ་དང༌།
།བློ་བུར་ནད་པ་ནད་གཡོག་དང༌། །ཡུལ་ངན་བྱུང་ཚེ་སྦྱིན་པ་ནི། །རྫས་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན། །ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་ལྟར་རོ།
The seven merits arisen from substance are indicated in The Sutra Requested by Cunda:
[Giving] pleasure groves, temples,
Bedding and cushions, livelihood for the Sangha,
Nurses for those suddenly sick, and
Giving to those in hard times;
Are the seven merits arising from substance.
རྫས་ལས་མ་བྱུང་བའི་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན་ནི། དེ་ཉིད་ལས། བཞུགས་དང་གཤེགས་རྩོམ་ལམ་ཞུགས་དང༌། །ཕྱིན་པ་ཐོས་དང་མཐོང་བ་དང༌།
ཆོས་ཐོས་བསླབ་པའི་གཞི་འཛིན་ལ། །དགའ་དང་དད་པ་སྐྱེས་པ་ནི། །རྫས་ལ་མ་ལྟོ ས་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན། །ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་ལྟར་རོ།
The seven merits not arisen from substance are indicated in The Sutra Requested by Cunda:
[In terms of the Buddha,] giving rise to joy and faith
In his abiding, departing, on the path, and having gone,
As well as in those who listen to and see [the Buddha,]
Listen to the Dharma, and uphold the basis of the trainings;
These are the seven merits not relying upon a substance.
