Preliminaries

བྱང་ཆུབ་ལམ་གྱི་རིམ་པའི་འཁྲིད་ལ་བཞི།
The Four Main Outlines for Teaching the Graduated Path to Enlightenment:

1. Showing the Greatness of the Author in order to show the source is credible
   ཆོས་ཁུངས་བཙུན་པར་བསྟན་པའི་ཕྱིར། མཛད་པ་པོའི་ཆེ་བ་བསྟན་པ་དང་།
2. Showing the Greatness of the Dharma in order to generate respect for the instructions
   གདམས་ངག་ལ་གུས་པ་བསྐྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར། ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཆེ་བ་བསྟན་པ་དང་།
3. How to Listen to and Teach Dharma possessing these Two Greatnesses
   ཆེ་བ་གཉིས་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཆོས་ལ། ཉན་བཤད་ཇི་ལྟར་བྱ་བ་དང་།
4. How to gradually lead the student by means of the actual instructions
   གདམས་པ་དངོས་ཀྱིས་སློབ་མ་ཇི་ལྟར་བཀྲི་བའི་རིམ་པའོ།

The Four Greatnesses of the Dharma: ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཆེ་བ་བསྟན་པ་ལ་བཞི།

1. Realising all the teachings without contradiction
   བསྟན་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་འགལ་མེད་དུ་རྟོགས་པའི་ཆེ་བ།
2. All the teachings arising as practice instructions
   གསུང་རབ་ཐམས་ཅད་གདམས་ངག་ཏུ་འཆར་བའི་ཆེ་བ།
3. The Conqueror’s intention is easy to find
   རྒྱལ་བའི་དགོངས་པ་བདེ་བླག་ཏུ་བརྙེས་པའི་ཆེ་བ།
4. The great misdeeds are naturally ceased
   ཉེས་སྤྱོད་ཆེན་པོ་རང་འགགས་སུ་འགྲོ་བའི་ཆེ་བ།

The Three Faults of a Vessel: སྣོད་ཀྱི་སྐྱོན་གསུམ།

1. An upside-down vessel
   སྣོད་ཁ་སྦུབ་པ་ལྟ་བུ།
2. A dirty vessel
   སྣོད་དྲི་མ་ཅན་ལྟ་བུ།
3. A leaky vessel / A vessel with a hole in the bottom
   སྣོད་ཞབས་རྡོལ་བ་ལྟ་བུ།

The Six Considerations: འདུ་ཤེས་དྲུག

1. Considering oneself to be a patient / sick
   རང་ལ་ནད་པ་ལྟ་བུའི་འདུ་ཤེས།
2. Considering the teacher to be a doctor
   ཆོས་སྨྲ་བ་ལ་སྨན་པའི་འདུ་ཤེས།
3. Considering the teachings to be medicine
   རྗེས་སུ་བསྟན་པ་ལ་སྨན་གྱི་འདུ་ཤེས།
4. Considering earnest practice to be the course of treatment
   ནན་ཏན་ཉམས་སུ་བླངས་པ་ལ་ནད་འཚོ་བའི་འདུ་ཤེས།
5. Considering the Tathagatas to be holy beings
   དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་ལ་སྐྱེས་བུ་དམ་པའི་འདུ་ཤེས།
6. Wishing for the Dharma to remain for a long time
   ཆོས་ཀྱི་ཚུལ་ལ་རིང་དུ་གནས་པའི་འདུ་ཤེས།
