Compassion observing sentient beings

སྙིང་རྗེ་གང་ཞིག རང་གི་དམིགས་ཡུལ་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་གྱིས་མངར་བའི་སེམས་ཅན་ཙམ་ལ་དམིགས་ནས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་དང་བྲལ་བར་འདོད་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བ་དེ། སེམས་ཅན་ཙམ་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་སྙིང་རྗེའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of compassion observing mere sentient beings: That distinguished by:

1. Being compassion; and
2. Observing mere sentient beings who are tormented by suffering that are its observed-object and wishing that they are separated from suffering.

ཙམ་སྒྲ་སྨོས་པ་ལ་དགོས་པ་ཡོད་དེ། མི་རྟག་པ་དང་བདེན་མེད་ཀྱིས་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་བྱས་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ལ་དམིགས་ནས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་དང་བྲལ་བར་འདོད་པའི་རྣམ་པ་ཅན་དེ་གཅོད་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There is a purpose for the "mere" particle: It is in order to eliminate those observing sentient beings qualified by impermanence and lack of true existence and possessing the aspect of wishing that they are separated from suffering.

མི་རྟག་པ་དང་བདེན་མེད་གང་གིས་ཀྱང་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་མ་བྱས་པར་རང་གི་དམིགས་ཡུལ་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཅན་གྱི་སེམས་ཅན་ཙམ་ལ་དམིགས་པ་ལ་
ཙམ་སྒྲ་མི་མངོན་པར་ཚིག་བསྡུ་བ་བྱས་ནས་སེམས་ཅན་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་སྙིང་རྗེ་ཞེས་གསུངས།
Etymology: That observing mere suffering sentient beings that are its observed-object without qualifying those with either impermanence or lack of true existence is referred to as "compassion observing sentient beings" through an abbreviation omitting the "mere" particle.
