Dedication (Gomde)
དཔལ་ལྡན་ཟླ་བ་གྲགས་པས་བསྟན་བཅོས་བརྩམས་པའི་དགེ་བ་བསྔོ་བའི་ཚུལ་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་ཡོད་དེ། སློབ་དཔོན་འཕགས་པ་ཀླུ་སྒྲུབ་ཀྱི་དབུ་མའི་ལུགས་བཟང་པོ་ལུང་དང་རིགས་པའི་ཚོགས་ཤིན་ཏུ་བསལ་བས་བསྙད་པ་སྟེ་བཤད་པ་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་བསོད་ནམས་ཟླ་བ་གྲགས་པ་བདག་གིས་གང་ཞིག་ཐོབ་པ་དེས། འཇིག་རྟེན་མ་ལུས་པས་ཟབ་མོའི་དེ་ཁོ་ན་ཉིད་ཇི་ལྟ་བཞིན་དུ་རྟོགས་ནས་མྱུར་དུ་བདེ་བར་གཤེགས་པའི་ས་ཀུན་ཏུ་འོད་ཅེས་བྱ་བ་དེར་བགྲོད་པར་ཤོག་ཅིག་ཅེས་བསྔོ་བའི་ཕྱིར།
There is a special way in which Acharya Candrakirti dedicates the virtues of composing this treatise because Candrakirti dedicates "Whatever merits I have attained that have arisen from explaining Nagarjuna's excellent Madhyamaka system by way of clarifying its collection of scriptures and reasonings, may all worldly beings accurately realise profound suchness and be quickly led to the Sugata-ground called All-Illuminating."
བསྔོ་རྒྱུའི་དགེ་རྩ་དེ་བཞག་ཏུ་ཡོད་དེ། བསོད་ནམས་ཕྱོགས་དང་དུས་ཀྱི་མཐར་ཁྱབ་པས་རྒྱ་ཆེ་ཞིང་།
ཡིད་ཀྱི་ནམ་མཁའ་ཉོན་མོངས་ཀྱིས་སྔོ་ཞིང་གནག་པར་བྱས་པའི་དཀྱིལ་དུ་དགེ་བ་སྟོན་ཁའི་རྒྱུ་སྐར་གྱིས་བསྐོར་བའི་ཟླ་འོད་ལྟར་དཀར་བའམ།
རྩོམ་པ་པོའེ་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྦྲུལ་ལ་སྟེ། སེམས་རྒྱུད་གནོད་པའི་རང་བཞིན་ཅན་གྱི་སྦྲུལ་གདུག་པ་དང་འདྲ་ཡང་།
དགེ་བ་ཕེན་པའི་རང་བཞིན་ཅན་གྱི་སྦྲལ་གྱི་གདེངས་ཀའི་ཡིད་བཞིན་ནོར་བུ་དང་འདྲ་བས། ཁྱད་པར་གསུམ་ལྡན་གྱི་དགེ་བ་དེ་བསྔོ་རྒྱུའི་དགེ་བ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There is something to be posited as the root-virtues to be dedicates because they are virtues possessing the three characteristics:
- The merit is vast due to pervading the limits of space and time,
- In the middle of the sky of the mind made dark by the afflictions, this virtue is white like the moonlight surrounded by autumn's shooting stars;
- Although the author's mind is like a poisonous snake whose nature is to harm the mental-continuum, these virtues whose nature is to benefit are like a wish-fulfilling jewel on the head of that snake.
དེ་ཡང་ཁྱད་པར་ཕྱི་མ་གཉིས་ཁེངས་སྐྱུང་ཡིན་ལ། སོ་སོར་ཕྱེ་ན་གཉིས་པས་དཀོན་པའི་ཁྱད་པར་དང་། གསུམ་པས་ཡུལ་དམན་པ་ལ་ཡང་བརྟེན་སྟེ་ཞེས་པའིེ་ཁྱད་པར་བདེན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། རྟགས་རིམ་པ་བཞིན། ནམ་མཁའ་སྔོན་པོ་ལ་ཟླ་འོད་དཀར་པོ་འཆར་བ་ལྟར། ཡིད་ཉོན་མོངས་ཀྱིས་སླད་པ་ལ། དགེ་བ་དཀར་པོ་འབྱུང་ཞེས་དང་།
སྦྲུལ་ཞེ་སྡང་ཤས་ཆེ་བས་ངན་པ་ཡིན་ཡང་དེའི་སྤྱི་བོར་ནོར་བུ་ཡོད་པ་ལྟར། སེམས་རྒྱུད་གནོང་པའི་རང་བཞིན་ཅན་ལ་དགེ་བ་མེད་འོད་ཡོད་ཅེས་བསྟན་པའིེ་ཕྱིར།
Moreover, the latter two characteristics are showing humility; the second is the characteristic of rarity and the third is the characteristic of relating to an inferior object because respectively:
- Just like the white moonlight shining in the dark sky, white virtues arise in minds polluted by afflictions
- Just like a snake has a jewel on their head despite being bad due to strong anger, although there is no virtue in that whose nature is to harm the mental-continuum there is still light.
