Emptiness of the great

ཕྱོགས་བཅུ་པོ་རྣམས་ཆོས་ཅན། ཆེན་པོ་ཉིད་ཡིན་ཏེ། སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་འཇིག་རྟེན་དང་སྣོད་ཀྱི་འཇིག་རྟེན་མ་འདུས་པ་ལ་ཁྱབ་པར་བྱེད་པ་ཉིད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར་དང་། ཁྱོད་ཚད་མེད་པའིེ་དཔེ་ཡིས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་ཁྱབ་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ལ་དམིེགས་པའི་བྱམས་སོགས་ཚད་མེད་བཞི་ཡང་ཕན་ཡོན་མུ་དང་མཐའ་ནི་མེད་པའི་ཚད་མེད་པར་བཞག་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the ten directions - it is the great 1) because they completely pervade the sentient being world-system and container world-system and 2) because using it as an example for the immeasurable, love and so forth observing sentient beings pervaded by it (i.e. the four immeasurables) are presented as having endless and limitless benefits.

ཤར་ལ་སོགས་པའི་ཕྱོགས་རྣམས་ཀྱི་རང་གི་ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་གྲུབ་པ་སྟོང་པའི་སྟོང་ཉིད་གང་ཡིན་པ་དེ་ནི་ཆོས་ཅན།
ཆེན་པོ་སྟོང་པ་ཉིད་ཡིན་ཏེ། སྟོང་གཞི་ཆེན་པོ་བདེན་པས་སྟོང་པའི་སྟོང་ཉིད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the emptiness of the directions (east and so forth) being empty of establishment by own-nature - it is emptiness of the great because of being the emptiness of true existence of the great (as the basis of emptiness).

ཆེན་པོ་སྟོང་པ་ཉིད་དུ་གསུངས་པ་ལ་ཆོས་ཅན། དགོས་པ་ཡོད་ཏེ། ཕྱོགས་རྣམས་ལ་ཆེན་པོར་འཛིན་པ་བཟློག་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - indicating the great to be empty [in sutra] - there is a purpose: It is in order to overcome apprehending the directions as great.
