Inferential valid cognition

རང་གི་རྟེན་རྟགས་ཡང་དག་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་དངོས་སུ་སྐྱེས་ཤིང་། རང་ལ་ལྐོག་ཏུ་གྱུར་པའི་གཞལ་བྱ་ལ་མི་སླུ་བའི་རིག་པ། རྗེས་དཔག་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A knower that is:

1. Non-deceptive wrt a cognised-object that is obscure to it; and
2. Directly produced in dependence upon a correct sign (its support).

རང་གི་རྟེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་རྟགས་ཡང་དག་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་རང་ཡུལ་གྱི་གཙོ་བོར་གྱུར་པའི་ལྐོག་གྱུར་ལ་མི་སླུ་བའི་ཞེན་རིག རྗེས་སུ་དཔག་པའི་ཚད་མའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
(Panchen) Definition: A determinative knower that is non-deceptive with respect to the obscure phenomenon that is its main object and depends upon the correct sign that is its support.

རྗེས་སུ་དཔག་པའི་ཚད་མ་ཡིན་ན་རང་གི་རྟེན་གཏན་ཚིགས་ཡང་དག་ལ་བརྟེན་པས་ཁྱབ།
(Panchen) If it is an inferential valid cognition, then it is pervaded by depending upon the correct reason that is its support.

མ་གྲུབ་ན། མྱུ་གུ་ཆོས་ཅན། རྟེན་འབྲེལ་མ་ཡིན་པར་ཐལ། བདེན་གྲུབ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
ཞེས་པའི་ཐལ་འགྱུར་ཙམ་འཕངས་པ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྐྱེས་པའི་མྱུ་གུ་བདེན་མེད་དུ་རྟོགས་པའི་རྗེས་དཔག་ཡོད་པར་འགྱུར་ལ།
If not established: There would exist an inference realising the sprout as lacking true existence that is produced in dependence upon merely throwing the consequence "The subject - sprout - it follows it is not a dependent-arising because it is truly established."

འདོད་ན། དེ་འདྲའི་ཐལ་འགྱུར་འཕངས་པ་ཙམ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་མྱུ་གུ་བདེན་གྲུབ་ཏུ་འདོད་པའི་ལོག་རྟོག་ཁེགས་པའི་གང་ཟག་ཡིན་ན།
མྱུ་གུ་བདེན་མེད་དུ་རྟོགས་པའི་རྗེས་དཔག་རང་རྒྱུད་ལ་དངོས་སུ་སྐྱེ་ཁ་མའི་གང་ཟག་ཡིན་དགོས་པར་འགྱུར་བས།
མྱུ་གུ་བདེན་པར་གྲུབ་བམ་མ་གྲུབ་སྙམ་པའི་ཐེ་ཚོམ་ལ་ཡུན་རིང་དུ་གནས་པའི་ཕྱི་རྒོལ་མེད་པར་འགྱུར་བའི་ཕྱིར།
If accepted: If it is a person has refuted wrong conception that assert the sprout as truly established in dependence upon merely that consequence having been thrown, it would necessarily be a person who is just about to directly produce in their continuum an inference realising the sprout as lacking true existence because an opponent for whom the doubt thinking "Is the sprout truly established or not?" remains for a long time would not exist.

དེས་ན་སྒྲོན་གསལ་གྱི་མཆན་བུ་དང་སྟོང་ཐུན་ཆེན་མོ་གཉིས་ཀར་རྗེས་སུ་དཔག་པའི་ཚད་མ་ཡིན་ན་རང་གི་རྟེན་གཏན་ཚིགས་ཡང་དག་ལ་བརྟེན་པས་ཁྱབ་པར་
གསུངས་པས་གཞན་གྱི་ངག་རྗེས་མ་འབྲང་ཞིག
Therefore, since it is indicated in both the Annotations on the Clear Lamp and the Thousand Doses that if it is an inferential valid cognition, then it is pervaded by depending upon the correct reason that is its support, do not follow the words of others.

Valid cognitions of scripture and analogy

སྒྲ་མི་རྟག་རྟོགས་ཀྱི་རྗེས་དཔག་སྒྲ་མི་རྟག་པ་ལ་འཁྲུལ་བ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཁྱོད་ལ་དེ་རང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་གྲུབ་པར་སྣང་བ་གང་ཞིག །དེ་རང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་མ་གྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར།
An inference realising sound is impermanent is mistaken wrt sound being impermanent because:

1. That appears to it as established by way of its own character; and
2. That is not established by way of its own character.
