Presentation of the Buddha's Bodies (Gomde)
Dharmakaya ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ།
གཉིས་སྣང་གི་ཤེས་བྱའི་སྒྲིབ་པ་བུད་ཤིང་སྐམ་པོ་དང་འདྲ་བ་མ་ལུས་ཡེ་ཤེས་མེ་དང་འདྲ་བས་བསྲེག་པའི་དྲི་མ་མཐའ་དག་དང་བྲལ་བའི་དེ་བཞིེན་ཉིད་ཞི་བ་དེ་ཆོས་ཅན། རྒྱལ་བ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་ཡིན་ཏེ། དྲི་མ་མཐའ་དག་དང་བྲལ་བའི་དེ་བཞིན་ཉིད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the pacification that is the suchness free from all stains whereby the knowledge obscurations of dualistic appearances, that are similar to dry kindling, have been completely burnt by exalted wisdom, that is similar to fire - it is the Dharmakaya of the Conquerors because of being suchness that is free from all stains.
དེ་ལ་ཁོ་ན་རེ། དེ་འདྲ་བའི་ཆོས་སྐུ་དེ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱིས་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་མཛད་པར་བཤད་པ་མི་འཐད་པར་ཐལ།
སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་རང་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་བྱེད་འདོད་ཀྱི་རྟོག་པ་མེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཞེ་ན།
Regarding that, someone says: It follows that it is incorrect to explain that such a Dharmakaya is "made manifest" by the Buddhas because the Buddhas lack conceptuality wishing to make themselves manifest.
མ་ཁབ་སྟེ། ཆོས་སྐུ་མངོན་དུ་མཛད་པ་དེའི་ཚེ་སེམས་སེམས་བྱུང་གི་རྣམ་རྟོག་འགག་པས་རྟོག་པས་དེ་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་པ་མེད་ཀྱང།
སྐྱེ་བ་མེད་ཅིང་འགག་པའི་ཆོས་སྐུ་དེ་ནི་དང་པོར་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་པའི་སྐུ་ཡིས་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་མཛད་པ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Response: No pervasion because although at the time of making the Dharmakaya manifest, there is no making manifest through conceptuality since conceptual minds and mental factors have ceased, nevertheless, the Dharmakaya of non-production and cessation is initially made manifest by the Complete Enjoyment Body.
Complete Enjoyment Body ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་པའི་སྐུ།
སེམས་སེམས་བྱུང་གི་རྣམ་རྟོག་དང་འབད་རྩོལ་ཉེ་བར་ཞི་བ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་པའི་སྐུ་དེ་ནི་ཆོས་ཅན།
ཁྱོད་དཔག་བསམ་ཤིང་ལྟར་དག་ཡིད་བཞིན་ནོར་བུ་ཇི་ལྟ་བ་བཞིན་དུ་དཔེའི་སྒོ་ནས་གསལ་བར་གྱུར་ཅིང་བསྟན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
རྣམ་པར་མི་རྟོག་བཞིན་དུ་གདུལ་བྱའི་འདོད་དོན་འགྲུབ་པའི་རྒྱུར་འགྱུར་བའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the Complete Enjoyment Body that is completely pacified of conceptual minds and mental factors and striving - it is indicated and clarified by way of the example of the wish-fulfilling tree and wish-fulfilling jewel because while lacking conceptuality, they become the cause for accomplishing the wish-for aims of disciples.
དེར་ཐལ། འགྲོ་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་སྲིད་ཞིའི་འཇིགས་པ་ལས་མ་གྲོལ་གྱི་བར་དུ་གདུལ་བྱའི་འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་འབྱོར་པའམ་དོན་གྱི་སླད་དུ་རྟག་ཏུ་གཡོ་བ་མེད་པར་ཞུགས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
That follows because until all migrators are liberated from the fears of existence and peace, they permanently remain unwavering for the sake of disciples' worldly richness and welfare.
ལོངས་སྐུ་འདི་ནི་ཆོས་ཅན།
སྤྲོས་པ་དང་བྲལ་བའི་བྱང་སེམས་འཕགས་པ་རྣམས་ལ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་སྣང་བར་འགྱུར་གྱི་སོ་སྐྱེ་ལ་ནི་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ངེས་པ་ལྔ་ལྡན་གྱི་གཟུགས་སྐུ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the Enjoyment Body - it directly appears to arya bodhisattvas that are free from elaborations and not to ordinary beings because of being a Form Body possessing the five certainties.
Causally Concordant Body རྒྱུ་མཐུན་པའི་སྐུ། (Emanation Body)
ཤེས་བྱ་ཆོས་ཅན། ཐུབ་པའི་སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་ལ་ནུས་པ་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་མངའ་བ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོས་དུས་གཅིག་ཁོ་ནར་ཆོས་ཁོངས་དེའི་རྒྱུ་མཐུན་པའི་གཟུགས་སྐུ་གཅིག་སྔོན་ཐོག་མ་མེད་པ་ནས་རང་གི་སྐྱེ་བའི་གནས་སྐབས་སུ་སྐྱེ་བ་ཇི་ལྟར་བླངས་པའི་སྔར་གྱི་བྱུང་མཐའ་ད་ལྟ་འགགས་ཟིན་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་གསལ་བ་དང་མ་འཆོལ་བ་སྟེ་ཕན་ཚུན་མ་འདྲེས་པར་བྱུང་ཚུལ་ནི། མ་ལུས་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་བཀྲ་བ་མཐའ་དག་འབད་མེད་དུ་སྟོན་པ་མཛད་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - objects of knowledge - the Muni's emanation bodies are endowed with excellent abilities because the King of the Munis in a single time and in a single Form Body that is causally concordant with that included in Dharma, is able to effortlessly indicate the entire array of all the previous births taken since beginningless time and up to those just ceased, clearly and without mix-up.
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། ཁྱོད་ལ་སྔར་བཤད་པ་དེ་ཙམ་དུ་མ་ཟད་ནུས་པ་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་གཞན་ཡང་མངའ་སྟེ།
སྔོན་བྱང་སེམས་སུ་གྱུར་ནས་སྦྱིན་པའི་ཕར་ཕྱིན་ལ་སྤྱོད་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་སུ་་་་་་
དེ་དག་ཐམས་ཅད་ནི་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མ་ལུས་པར་སྐུ་གཅིག་ལ་སྟོན་པར་མཛད་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - not only does he possess the above explained abilities, but is also endowed with other excellent abilities because of being able to indicate all of the following without exception upon a single Body in relation to when he was previously a bodhisattva practicing the perfection of generosity:
- What the special Buddha-lands were like སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཞིང་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་ཅི་འདྲ་བར་
- The Kings of the Munis' display of the twelve deeds, such as taking birth and so forth
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་དེ་རྣམས་བལྟམ་པ་སོགས་མཛད་པ་བཅུ་གཉིས་སྟོན་པ་དང་། - What those Buddhas' Bodies, powerful deeds, and excellent strengths were like
སངས་རྒྱས་དེ་དག་གི་སྐུ་དང་སྤྱོད་པའི་མཐུ་དང་སྟོབས་ཕུལ་དུ་བྱུང་བ་ཇི་འདྲ་བ་དང་། - How many Hearer Sangha were gathered in their retinues
འཁོར་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་དགེ་འདུན་འདུས་པ་ཇི་སྙེད་པ་དང་། - Through focusing on which dharmas did they become part of the Sangha
ཆོས་གང་ལ་ནན་ཏན་དུ་བྱས་པས་དགེ་འདུན་དེར་གྱུར་པ་ཇི་ལྟ་བ་སྟེ་ཇི་འདྲ་བ་དང་། - How the bodhisattvas in those Buddha-lands were adorned with major and minor marks of the body, the monastic robes, and so forth
སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཞིང་དེར་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་རྣམས་གཟུགས་མཚན་དཔེ་དང་ཆོས་གོས་སོགས་ཀྱིས་སྤྲས་པ་ཇི་འདྲ་བ་དང་། - How the Dharma was taught in relation to a single or three vehicles
ཐེག་པ་གཅིག་དང་གསུམ་ལས་བརྩམས་ནས་ཇི་འདྲ་བའིེ་ཆོས་སྟོན་པ་དང་། - How they themselves were born in those fields in the lineages of Brahmins and so forth and as either householders or ordained
ཞིང་དེར་བདག་ཉིད་བྲམ་ཟེ་སོགས་ཀྱི་རིགས་སུ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ་ཁྱིམ་པ་དང་རབ་བྱུང་གང་རུང་གྱུར་པ་ཇི་འདྲ་བ་དང་། - Through listening to the Dharma and practicing which bases of trainings did they practice the practices of the Conqueror Children
ཆོས་ཐོས་ནས་བསླབ་པའི་གཞི་ཇི་འདྲ་བ་རྣམས་ཁས་བླངས་ཏེ་རྒྱལ་སྲས་ཀྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་གང་ལ་སྤྱད་པ་དང་། - What, when, and how much food and drink, clothing and ornaments, and so forth were offered to those Buddhas, bodhisattvas, hearers, and so forth
སངས་རྒྱས་བྱང་སེམས་དང་ཉན་ཐོས་སོགས་དེ་དག་ལ་བཟའ་བཏུང་དང་རྒྱན་གོས་སོགས་སྦྱིན་པ་གང་དུས་ཅི་ཙམ་ཞིག་ཏུ་ཚད་ཇི་ཙམ་ཞིག་ཕུལ་བ།
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། ནུས་པ་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་མངའ་སྟེ། སྔོན་སྦྱིན་པའི་ཕར་ཕྱིན་ལ་སྤྱོད་པའི་སྐབས་ཀྱི་བྱུང་བའི་མཐའ་ཀུན་སྐུ་གཅིག་ལ་སྟོན་པར་མཛད་པ་དེ་
བཞིན་དུ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་དང་། བཟོད་པ་དང་། བརྩོན་འགྲུས་དང་། བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་ཏིང་འཛིན་དང་། ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱིེ་ཕར་ཕྱིན་ལ་སྤྱོད་པའི་ཚེ་སྔར་གྱི་གནས་སྐབས་གང་དུ་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཞིང་ཇི་འདྲ་བར་ཐུབ་དབང་དེ་འདྲ་བ་བྱོན་པ་སོགས་མ་ཚང་བ་མེད་པ་དེ་དག་ཐམས་ཅད་སྐུ་གཅིག་ལ་སྟོན་པར་མཛད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - he is endowed with excellent abilities because similarly to displaying in a single Body all that occurred while previously practicing the perfection of generosity, he is also able to indicate upon single Body what the Buddha-lands were like, how those Kings of the Munis arrived, and so forth, without any incompleteness, in relation to the occasion of previously practicing the perfections of ethics, patience, joyous effort, concentration, and wisdom.
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། རང་གི་སྤྱོད་པ་སྟོན་པའི་ནུས་མཐུ་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། སྔོན་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་ཕར་ཕྱིན་དྲུག་ལ་སྤྱོད་པའི་སྤྱོད་ཚུལ་ཀུན་སྐུ་གཅིག་ལ་སྟོན་པར་མ་ཟད་དེ་དག་ཐམས་ཅད་སྐུ་ཡི་བ་སྤུའི་ཁུང་བུར་འང་གསལ་ལ་མ་འདྲེས་པར་སྟོན་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - he is endowed with a special ability for displaying his own practices because not only does he display upon a single Body all the ways he previously practiced the six perfections, he is also able to display all of those clearly and without mix-up even in each hair-pore of the Body.
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། གཞན་གྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་སྟོན་པའི་ནུས་མཐུ་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། སངས་རྒྱས་གང་དག་འདས་པ་དང་། འབྱུང་འགྱུར་མ་འོངས་པ་དང་། སངས་རྒྱས་གང་དག་ད་ལྟ་ནམ་མཁའི་མཐའ་ཐུག་པར་གསུང་གི་གདངས་མཐོན་པོས་ཆོས་སྟོན་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་གྱིས་བཟུང་བ་སྟེ་གཟེར་བའི་འགྲོ་བ་རྣམས་དབུགས་འབྱིན་པར་མཛད་ཅིང་འཇིག་རྟེན་ན་བཞུགས་པ་དང་། དུས་གསུམ་གྱི་སངས་རྒྱས་དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་དང་པོའི་ཐུགས་བསྐྱེད་པ་ནས་བཟུང་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཀྱི་སྙིང་པོའེ་བར་གྱི་སངས་རྒྱས་དེ་དག་ནི་སྤྱོད་པ་ཀུན་ཀྱང་བདག་གི་སྤྱོད་ཚུལ་སྟོན་པ་དེ་བཞིན་དུ་བ་སྤུའི་ཁུང་བུ་རེ་རེར་དུས་སྐད་ཅིག་མ་གཅིག་ལ་ནི་གསལ་ལ་མ་འདྲེས་པར་སྟོན་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - he is endowed with a special ability for displaying others' practices because of being able to clearly and without mix-up indicate in a single moment and in each hair-pore all the practices of those Buddhas past, future, and present, reaching the limits of space, just like indicating his own practices; all three-times Buddhas giving breath to migrators tormented by suffering by way of teaching the Dharma with a resounding voice and abiding in the world as well as starting by generating the mind and [progressing] up to the essence of enlightenment.
དེར་ཐལ། དངོས་པོ་རྣམས་མིག་འཁྲུལ་གྱི་རང་བཞིན་དང་བདེན་བརྫུན་འདྲ་བར་མཁྱེན་ནས་བསྐལ་པ་དུ་མར་གོམས་པར་མཛད་པ་མཐར་ཕྱིན་པ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
That follows because through realising that things are falsities similar to the nature of optical illusions, he has completed familiarisation with that over many eons.
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། གཞན་གྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་སྟོན་པའི་ནུས་མཐུ་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་གཞན་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
སངས་རྒྱས་རང་དང་གཞན་གྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་ཀུན་སྟོན་པའི་དེ་བཞིན་དུ་དུས་གསུམ་གྱི་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་དང་། རང་རྒྱལ་འཕགས་པ་དང་།
ཉན་ཐོས་འཕགས་པ་མ་ལུས་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་དང་། དེའི་ལྷག་མ་སོ་སོ་སྐྱེ་བོའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་སྤྱོད་ཚུལ་ཐམས་ཅད་ནི།
བ་སྤུའི་ཁུང་བུ་རེ་རེར་དུས་གཅིག་གི་ཚེ་གསལ་བར་སྟོན་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - he is endowed with other special abilities for displaying others' practices because he is able to clearly indicate at one time and in each hair-pore, similarly to indicating the practices of himself and other Buddhas, also all the ways of practicing on the occasions of the three-times bodhisattvas, arya solitary realisers, arya hearers, and the remaining ordinary beings.
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། ཡུལ་ལ་མངའ་བསྒྱུར་བའི་ནུས་པ་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཉེས་པ་མ་ལུས་པ་དག་པའི་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་མཛད་པ་འདི་ནི་བཞེད་པ་ཙམ་གྱི་འཇུག་པ་ཡིས་དེའི་སྒོ་ནས་རྡུལ་ཕྲ་རབ་གཅིག་གི་ཡུལ་གྱི་ཁྱོན་ལ་ནམ་མཁའི་མཐས་གཏུགས་པའི་འཇིག་རྟེན་ཁམས་མ་ལུས་པ་ཆུད་པར་སྟོན་པར་དང་། འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་ཁམས་མཐའ་ཡས་པའི་ཕྱོགས་མ་ལུས་པ་རྡུལ་ཕྲ་རབ་གཅིག་གིས་ཁྱབ་པར་སྟོན་མོད་ཀྱང་རྡུལ་རགས་ཏེ་ཆེ་བར་ཡང་མི་འགྱུར་འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་ཁམས་ཕྲ་བ་སྟེ་ཆུང་བར་ཡང་མི་འགྱུར་བའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - he is endowed with excellent abilities of dominion over objects because the Bhagavan who is free from all faults, by way of his deeds that are engaged in merely through wishing for them, displays all the world-systems without exception reaching the ends of space as contained within a single subtle atom and displays all directions of the limitless world-systems without exceptions being pervaded by a single subtle atom; nevertheless, the atom does not become larger nor do the world-systems become smaller.
The Story of Milarepa entering the horn རྗེ་བཙུན་མི་ལ་རས་པས་རྭ་བར་དུ་བཞུགས་པའི་ལོ་རྒྱུས།
དེ་ནས་ཡང་རེ་ཆུང་པས་སེམས་ལ་ང་རྒྱལ་ཅུང་ཟད་སྐྱེས་པ་རྗེ་བཙུན་གྱིས་མཁྱེན་ནས། ལམ་ཁ་ན་གཡག་རྭ་སྐམ་པོ་གཅིག་འདུག་པ་ལ། རྗེ་བཙུན་གྱིས་རེ་ཆུང་པ་ལ་འདི་ཁྱེར་ལ་ཤོག་གསུངས་པས། རེ་ཆུང་པས་འདི་འདྲ་བ་ལ་ཅི་བྱེད་བསམས་ནས་མ་བླངས་པར། རྗེ་བཙུན་གྱིས་ཕྱག་གིས་བསྒྲུགས་ཏེ་ཁྱེར་བྱུང་བ་ལས། དེ་ནས་ཆར་པ་དྲག་པོ་ཅིག་བབས་བྱུང་བས། རེ་ཆུང་པ་བྲེད་ནས་ཕར་བལྟས་ཚེ་རྗེ་བཙུན་མ་མཐོང་བར། གཡག་རྭ་དེ་ས་ལ་འདུག་པ་ལ་རྗེ་བཙུན་དེའི་ནང་ན་བཞུགས་ནས་འདི་སྐད་གསུངས།
Then, Rechungpa developed a bit of pride in his mind; Jetsun knowing this, [pointing to] a dry yak horn lying on the road, Jetsun said to Rechungpa "Bring this and come!" Rechungpa thinking "What use is it?" did not pick it up, so Jetsun picked it up and carried it. Then, a strong rain started falling. Rechungpa became alarmed and when he looked around did not see Jetsun; there was the yak horn lying on the ground, and from within it Jetsun spoke as follows:
རྭ་མ་ཆེ་ལ། ལུས་མ་ཆུང་བར། ། རྗེ་བཙུན་རྭ་ཡི་ནང་ན་བཞུགས། །འདི་ནི་དབྱིངས་ཀྱི་རྣལ་འབྱོར་ཡིན།
།རེ་ཆུང་པ་ལ་དེ་ལྟར་མེད། །ང་ཡི་རྭ་འདི་ཁང་པ་ཡིན། །རེ་ཆུང་པ་ཁྱོད་ནང་དུ་ཤོག ། ཁྱོད་མཁས་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ཡིན་པས་ཤོང་ངེས་སོ། །
"Without the horn becoming larger or my body becoming smaller, Jetsun abides inside of the horn! This is the yoga of [Dharma]dhatu; Rechungpa has no such thing. This horn of mind is my house; Rechungpa come inside! Since you are a great scholar, you will surely fit!"
ཞེས་གསུངས་པས། རེ་ཆུང་པས་ལག་པས་རྭ་ལ་རེག་ཀྱང་དྲོད་ཙམ་ལས་ཅི་ཡང་མ་ཚོར། དེ་ནས་རེ་ཆུང་པས་ང་རྒྱལ་བཅག་ནས་གསོལ་བ་བཏབ་པའོ།
Due to that, Rechungpa touched the horn with his hand but felt nothing but heat. Then Rechungpa's pride broke and he made supplication [to Jetsun].
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཆོས་ཅན། དུས་ལ་མངའ་བསྒྱུར་བའི་ནུས་པ་ཕུན་སུམ་ཚོགས་པ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
རྣམ་པར་རྟོག་པ་མི་མངའ་བ་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་སྲིད་མཐའ་བར་སྐད་ཅིག་དང་སྐད་ཅིག་དེ་འདྲ་བ་རེ་རེ་ལ་སྤྲུལ་པའི་སྤྱོད་པ་སྣ་ཚོགས་པ་ཇི་སྙེད་པ་དེ་སྙེད་ཀྱི་གྲངས་ནི།
འཛམ་བུ་གླིང་མ་ལུས་པ་ན་རྡུལ་གྱི་གྲངས་གང་ཇི་སྙེད་ཡོད་པ་དེ་སྙེད་ལ་མེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - the King of the Munis - he is endowed with excellent abilities of dominion over time because he who is without conceptuality can display in each and every moment until samsara ends a variety of manifested activities whose number cannot be equalled by the number of atoms in all of Jambudvipa.
