Proof that the self and aggregates are not one
ཤེས་བྱ་ཆོས་ཅན། བདག་ཕུང་གཉིས་གཅིག་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཡིན་ན་བདག་དང་འཇིག་རྟེན་མཐའ་དང་ལྡན་པ་དང་།
ལ་སོགས་པས་མི་རྟག་པ་སོགས་སུ་ལུང་སྟོན་རིགས་པ་གང་ཞིག དེ་ལྟར་ལུང་བསྟན་པ་མེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ།
དེ་དག་ལུང་མ་བསྟན་གྱི་ལྟ་བར་སྡེ་པ་ཀུན་གྱིས་ཁས་ལེན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - objects of knowledge - the self and aggregates are not one because 1) if they were, then the self and the world possessing an end, as well as impermanent etc. included in the "and so forth", would be suitable to be indicated in scripture but 2) those are not indicated in scripture. དང་པོ་གྲུབ་སྟེ། ཕུང་པོ་མཐའ་དང་ལྡན་པ་དང་མི་རྟག་པར་ལུང་བསྟན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The first is established because the aggregates are not indicated in scriptures as possessing an end and impermanent.
དེར་ཐལ། ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ལུགས་ལ་ལྷག་མེད་ཀྱི་ཚེ་ཕུང་པོ་མེད་ཅིང་། ཕུང་པོ་ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་ཀྱི་སྐྱེ་འཇིག་བྱེད་པར་བཤད་པའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།
That follows because it is explained in your system in your system that at the time of without remainder the aggregates do not exist and that the aggregates are inherently produced and disintegrate.
མདོར་ན། བདག་རྒྱུན་ཆད་པའི་མི་རྟག་མིན་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་གྱིས་མི་རྟག་པར་ལུང་མ་བསྟན་ཅེས་དང་།
བདག་མཐའ་མེད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་གྱིས་མཐའ་ལྡན་དུ་ལུང་མ་བསྟན་ཅེས་དང་།
དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་གྲོངས་ཕན་ཆད་འགྱུར་བའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་གྱིས་མི་འབྱུང་བར་ལུང་བསྟན་པ་དང་།
ལུས་དེ་ཉིད་སྲོག་མིན་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་གྱིས་ལུས་དེ་ཉིད་སྲོག་ཏུ་ལུང་མ་བསྟན་ཅེས་དང་།
ཁྱད་གཞི་བཏགས་པ་ཙམ་གྱིས་བདག་བསྟན་དུ་མི་རུང་བས་རྟག་པར་ལུང་མ་བསྟན་ཅེས་སོགས་བྱ་བའི་སྐབས་འདིར་ལུང་མ་བསྟན་གྱི་ལྟ་བ་བཅུ་བཞི་གསུངས་སོ།
In short, in this context it is indicating the fourteen unspecified views:
- Due to the self not being an impermanent whose continuum is severed, it was not indicated in scripture as impermanent,
- Due to the self not having an end, it was not indicated in scripture as possessing an end,
- Due to the Tathagata changing after death, it was indicated in scripture that he does not arise,
- Due to the body itself not being life, it was not indicated in scripture that the body itself is life, and
- Since the self is not suitable to be indicated by mere designation of the basis of attributes, it was not indicated in scripture as permanent.
- And so forth.
