Strength of remembering previous states

སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཁྱེན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་དེ་ནི་ཆོས་ཅན། སྔོན་གྱི་གནས་རྗེས་སུ་དྲན་པ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས་སུ་བཤད་དེ། ཇི་སྲིད་ཐོག་མ་མེད་པ་ནས་གཏི་མུག་རྒྱུད་ལ་ཡོད་པ་དེ་སྲིད་དུ་སྲིད་པ་འཁོར་བར་གནས་པ་ན། བདག་དང་སེམས་ཅན་གཞན་རེ་རེ་ཡི་སྲིད་པར་སྐྱེས་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་ནི་ཇི་སྙེད་པ་དེ་སྙེད་ཀྱི་སེམས་ཅན་མཐའ་ཡས་པའིེ་སྔོན་འདས་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་སྐྱེ་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་གཞི་སྟེ་རྒྱུ་དང་བཅས་པ་དྲན་པ་དང་། ཁ་དོག་འདི་ལྟ་བུར་འགྱུར་ཞེས་རྣམ་པ་དང་བཅས་པར་དྲན་པ་དང་། ཡུལ་འདི་ནས་འདི་འདྲ་ཞིག་ཏུ་སྐྱེས་ཞེས་ཡུལ་ཕྱོགས་དང་བཅས་པ་དྲན་པ་སྟེ་དྲན་པའི་ཡུལ་དེ་རྣམས་ལ་ཐོགས་མེད་དུ་འཇུག་པའི་བློ་སྟེ་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - that knowing exalted wisdom of the Buddha - it is explained as the strength of remembering previous states because since beginningless time and for as long as ignorance remains in the continuum, one remains cycling in samsara and thus sentient beings are born in various existences; it is an exalted wisdom that in unhindered in engaging those objects of memory remembering all the past birth places of limitless sentient beings (in relation to both self and other sentient beings):

• remembering also their causes
• remembering also their aspects, such as "the complexion was like this..."
• remembering also their place, such as "from this place, they were born in such a place."
