Verse 1 (Gomde)
།ཉན་ཐོས་སངས་རྒྱས་འབྲིང་རྣམས་ཐུབ་དབང་སྐྱེས། །སངས་རྒྱས་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་ལས་འཁྲུངས་ཤིང་།
Hearers and Middling Buddhas are born from the Kings of Subduers;
Buddhas are born from Bodhisattvas; [1.1ab]
ཉན་ཐོས་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་དང་། དེ་ཁོ་ན་ཉིད་རྟོགས་པ་འབྲིང་པོའེ་རང་རྒྱལ་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་རྣམས་ཆོས་ཅན།
ཐུབ་དབང་ལས་སྐྱེས་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། ཐུབ་དབང་གིེས་རྟེན་འབྲེལ་ཟབ་མོའེ་ཆོས་བསྟན་པ་ཉམས་སུ་བླངས་པས་རང་རང་གི་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཐོབ་པའི་གང་ཟག་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - Hearer Foe-Destroyers and Solitary-Realiser Foe-Destroyers (i.e. middling realisers of suchness) - they are born from the Kings of Subduers because of being persons that attain their respective enlightenments through practicing the Buddhas' teachings on the Dharma of profound Dependent-Arising.
ཉན་ཐོས་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ཆོས་ཅན། ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་གདམས་ངག་ཐོས་པར་བྱེད་ཚུལ་ཡོད་དེ།
འདི་ལྟར་འཁོར་བ་ལས་གྲོལ་བའི་བྱ་བ་བྱས་སོ། འདི་ལས་སྲིད་པར་སྐྱེ་བ་གཞན་ལེན་པ་མི་ཤེས་སོ། །ཞེས་པ་ལྟ་བུའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - Hearer Foe-Destroyers - there is a way in which they cause the hearing of the instructions because that is in terms of their saying, "As such, I have done what was needed to be liberated from samsara; I will not know the taking of another birth in existence after this." and so forth.
ཐུབ་པའི་དབང་པོ་སངས་རྒྱས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཆོས་ཅན། བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་ལས་འཁྲུངས་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
བྱང་སེམས་ཁ་ཅིག་གིས་ཡོངས་འཛིན་བྱས། རང་དང་རྒྱུད་གཅིག་ཏུ་གྱུར་པའི་བྱང་སེམས་ཀྱིས་ཉེར་ལེན་བྱས་པ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་འཁྲུངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - The King of Subduers, the Buddha Bhagavan - he is born from bodhisattvas because of being born in dependence upon 1) some bodhisattvas acting as tutors and 2) the bodhisattva of the same continuum acting as the substantial cause.
བྱང་སེམས་རྒྱལ་སྲས་སུ་བཞག་པ་ནི་རང་གི་བདག་རྐྱེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་རྒྱལ་བ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་བཞག་པ་ཡིན་པས།
སངས་རྒྱས་བྱང་སེམས་ལས་འཁྲུངས་པར་བཤད་པ་དང་མི་འགལ་ལོ།
Since presenting bodhisattvas as Conqueror Children is presented in relation the Conquerors that are their empowering condition, there is not contradiction in explaining that Buddhas are born from bodhisattvas.
།སྙིང་རྗེའི་སེམས་དང་གཉིས་སུ་མེད་བློ་དང་། །བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་ནི་རྒྱལ་སྲས་རྣམས་ཀྱི་རྒྱུ།
The mind of compassion, non-dual awareness,
And the mind of enlightenment are the causes of the children of the Conqueror. [1.1cd]
The three dharmas indicated in this context འདིར་བསྟན་ཆོད་གསུམ།
The subject the three:
- The mind of compassion སྙིང་རྗེའི་སེམས་དང་།
- The awareness (i.e. wisdom) realising the meaning free from the two extremes of permanence and annihilation རྟག་ཆད་ཀྱི་མཐའ་གཉིས་སུ་མེད་པ་སྟེ་གཉིས་དང་བྲལ་བའི་དོན་རྟོགས་པའི་བློ་ཤེས་རབ་དང་།
- Mind generation འདིར་བསྟན་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཀྱི་སེམས་གསུམ་ནི་ཆོས་ཅན།
རྒྱལ་སྲས་རྣམས་ཀྱི་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་ཏེ། དེ་རྣམས་སྐྱེད་བྱེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
They are the causes of Conqueror Children because of being the producers of those.
བྱང་སེམས་འདིར་བསྟན་ཆོས་གསུམ་ལས་འཁྱུངས་པ་ཡང་དབང་པོ་རྣོ་རྟུལ་གཉིས་ཀའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
དང་པོར་སྟོང་ཉིད་རྟོགས་པའི་ཤེས་རབ་བཙལ་ནས་དེའི་རྗེས་སུ་སེམས་བསྐྱེད་པའི་དབང་རྟུལ་དུ་མ་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།
Moreover, bodhisattvas being born from the three dharmas indicated in this context is presented in terms of both those of sharp and dull faculties because there exist many of dull faculty that first seek wisdom realising emptiness and then afterwards generate the mind.
