Abider in Stream-Enterer
འབྲས་གནས་བཞིའི་ནང་ཚན་གང་ཞིག མཐོང་སྤང་ཀུན་སྦྱོར་གསུམ་སྤངས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པའི་
དགེ་སྦྱོང་ཚུལ་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་ལ་གནས་པའི་འཕགས་པ། རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས་གནས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: An arya
- Who is a subdivision of the four Abiders and
- Abiding in the result of the Way of the Śramaṇa that abides in the class distinguished by having abandoned the three entanglements that are objects of abandonment of the path of seeing.
མྱང་འདས་ཐོབ་པར་བྱེད་པའི་ལམ་གྱི་རྒྱུན་ལ་ཞུགས་པས་ན་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Etymology: due to entering into the stream of the path that acts to attain Nirvāṇa.
Division by way of faculty: དབང་པོའི་སྒོ་ནས།
- Faithful Abider in Stream-Enterer རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས་གནས་དད་མོས་པ།
- Attainers through seeing Abider in Stream-Enterer རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས་གནས་མཐོང་ཐོབ་པ།
Division by way of the mode of abandoning the objects of abandonment: སྤང་བྱ་སྤོང་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྒོ་ནས།
- Simultaneous Abandoner Abiders in Stream-Enterer སྤང་བྱ་ཅིག་ཅར་བའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས།
- Serialist Abiders in Stream-Enterer སྤང་བྱ་རིམ་གྱིས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས་གནས།
Division by way of application: སྦྱོར་བའི་སྒོ་ནས།
- Mere Abider in Stream-Enterer རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས་གནས་ཙམ་པོ་བ།
- Special Abiders in Stream-Enterer རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་འབྲས་གནས་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན།
Division by way of realisation: རྟོགས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས།
- Stream-Enterers on the path of seeing མཐོང་ལམ་པར་གྱུར་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས།
- Those on the path of meditation སྒོམ་ལམ་པར་གྱུར་པའི་དེ།
Division by way of mode of taking birth: སྐྱེ་བ་ལེན་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྒོ་ནས་
- Stream-Enterers who do not take even one rebirth in the Desire Realm through the force of karma and afflictions འདོད་པར་ལས་ཉོན་གྱི་དབང་གིས་སྐྱེ་བ་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མི་ལེན་པ།

e.g. Stream-Enterers included within the same physical support of a Once-Returner completely transformed in the Desire Realm and who fulfils the etymology of “one life one obstacle”
ཚེ་གཅིག་བར་ཆད་གཅིག་པའི་སྒྲ་བཤད་དུ་ཡོད་པའི་འདོད་པར་ཚེ་ཡོངས་གྱུར་གྱི་ཕྱིར་འོང་དང་ལུས་རྟེན་གཅིག་བསྡུས་ཀྱི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ལྟ་བུ། - Those who take two but not two rebirths of concordant class
གཉིས་ལེན་ཀྱང་རིགས་མཐུན་གྱི་སྐྱེ་བ་གཉིས་མི་ལེན་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས།
e.g. Stream-Enterers included within the same physical support of a Once-Returner who takes two rebirths in the Desire Realm འདོད་པར་སྐྱེ་བ་གཉིས་ལེན་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོང་དང་ལུས་རྟེན་གཅིག་བསྡུས་ཀྱི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ལྟ་བུ། - Stream-Enterers who take two of concordant class but not four of concordant class
རིགས་མཐུན་གཉིས་ལེན་ཀྱང་རིགས་མཐུན་བཞི་མི་ལེན་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས།
e.g. Stream-Enterers born from class to class རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་རིགས་སྐྱེ་ལྟ་བུ། - Stream-Enterers who take four of concordant class but not seven of concordant class
རིགས་མཐུན་བཞི་ལེན་ཀྱང་། རིགས་མཐུན་བདུན་མི་ལེན་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས།
e.g. Stream-Enterers indefinite in taking seven existences who take four birth-existences of concordant class in the Desire Realm འདོད་པར་རིགས་མཐུན་གྱི་སྐྱེ་སྲིད་བཞི་ལེན་པའི་མ་ངེས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་སྲིད་པ་ལན་བདུན་པ་བ་ལྟ་བུ། - Stream-Enterers who take seven of concordant class
རིགས་མཐུན་བདུན་ལེན་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས།
e.g. Stream-Enterers definite in taking seven existences ངེས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་སྲིད་པ་ལན་བདུན་པ་བ་ལྟ་བུ།
The first are, for example:
- Stream-Enterers pacifying in the present life རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་མཐོང་ཆོས་ཞི་ལྟ་བུ་དང་།
- Stream-Enterers who are definite to actualise the result of Non-Returner proceeding to the Form Realm
གཟུགས་སུ་ཉེར་འགྲོའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་བའི་འབྲས་བུ་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་པར་ངེས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་དང་། - Stream-Enterers who are definite to actualise the result of Non-Returner proceeding to the Formless Realm
གཟུགས་མེད་ཉེར་འགྲོའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གི་འབྲས་བུ་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་པར་ངེས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ལྟ་བུ།
རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་མཐོང་ཆོས་ཞི་ཡིན་ན། འདོད་པར་ལས་ཉོན་གྱིས་སྐྱེ་བ་མི་ལེན་པས་ཁྱབ་སྟེ།
དེ་ཡིན་ན། ཚེ་དེ་ལ་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པའི་འབྲས་བུ་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་པར་ངེས་པས་ཁྱབ་པའི་ཕྱིར།
If it is a Stream-Enterer pacifying in the present life, they are pervaded by not taking rebirth in the Desire Realm due to karma and afflictions because if it is that, they are pervaded by being definite to actualise the result of Foe-Destroyer in that life.
ཕྱི་མ་གཉིས་པོ་གང་རུང་ཡིན་ན། འདོད་པར་ལས་ཉོན་གྱིས་སྐྱེ་བ་མི་ལེན་པས་ཁྱབ་སྟེ།
འདོད་པར་སྐྱེ་བ་གཉིས་བརྒྱུད་ནས་འཕགས་ཆོས་བསྟེན་པའི་འཕགས་པ་ཡིན་ན། འདོད་པར་ཚེ་ཡོངས་སུ་གྱུར་པའི་འཕགས་པ་ཡིན་དགོས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
If it is one of the latter two, they are pervaded by not taking rebirth in the Desire Realm due to karma and afflictions because if it is an arya who relies upon arya dharma over two consecutive rebirths in the Desire Realm, they are necessarily an arya completely transformed in the Desire Realm.
ཁྱབ་སྟེ། འདོད་པར་ཚེ་ཡོངས་སུ་གྱུར་པའི་འཕགས་པ་ཡིན་ན། ཁམས་གོང་མར་ལས་ཉོན་གྱིས་སྐྱེ་བ་མི་ལེན་པས་ཁྱབ་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There is pervasion because if it is an arya completely transformed in the Desire Realm, they are pervaded by not taking rebirth in the Upper Realms due to karma and afflictions.
