Approacher to Non-Returner
ཞུགས་པ་བཞིའི་ནང་ཚན་གང་ཞིག ཐ་མའི་ཆ་མཐུན་ལྔ་སྤངས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པའི་དགེ་སྦྱོང་ཚུལ་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་ཐོབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་དུ་བརྩོན་བཞིན་པའི་
སྦྱོར་བ་རྒྱུན་ཆགས་ལ་གནས་པ། ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཞུགས་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: Someone who is:
- A subdivision of the four Approachers and
- Abiding in a continuous application of effort in order to attain the result of the Way of the Śramaṇa that abides in the class distinguished by having abandoned the five partial concordances with the lower.
Divisions:
- Gradualist Approachers to Non-Returner འབྲས་བུ་རིམ་གྱིས་པའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཞུགས་པ།
- Leaper Approachers to Non-Returner འབྲས་བུ་ཐོད་རྒལ་པའི་དེའི་ཞུགས་པ།
- Approachers to Non-Returner who are neither of these two དེ་གཉིས་གང་རུང་མ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གི་ཞུགས་པ།
དང་པོ་དང་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཀྱི་རྟོགས་པ་སྔོན་དུ་སོང་བའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཞུགས་པ་དོན་གཅིག
The first and Approacher to Non-Returner preceded by the realisation of a Stream-Enterer are mutually inclusive.
གཉིས་པ་དང་ཆགས་བྲལ་སྔོན་སོང་གི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཞུགས་པ་དོན་གཅིག
The second and Approacher to Non-Returner Previously separated from attachment are mutually inclusive.
གསུམ་པ་ནི། འབྲས་བུ་ཐོད་རྒལ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོང་འབྲས་གནས་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་ལྟ་བུའོ།
The third are Leaper Special Abiders in Once-Returner, for example.
(They are a Leaper Non-Returner but not a Leaper to Non-Returner)
དང་པོའི་ས་མཚམས། རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཀྱི་འབྲས་བུ་ཐོབ་རྗེས་སུ་འདོད་ཉོན་བདུན་པ་སྤོང་བ་ལ་བརྩོན་པ་ནས་དེ་དགུ་པ་སྤོང་བ་ལ་བརྩོན་པའི་བར་དུ་ཡོད།
Boundaries of the first: exist from striving to abandon the seventh Desire Realm affliction and up to striving to abandon the ninth, after having attained the result of Stream-Enterer.
གཉིས་པའི་ས་མཚམས། སྦྱོར་ལམ་སྟན་གཅིག་པ་ནས་ལམ་རྗེས་བཟོད་ཀྱི་བར་དུ་ཡོད།
Boundaries of the second: exist from the single-session of the path of preparation and up to the subsequent forbearance in relation to paths.
ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གི་འབྲས་བུ་ཐོབ་ཕྱིར་དུ་ཞུགས་པ་སྟེ་བརྩོན་བཞིན་པའི་སྦྱོར་བ་རྒྱུན་ཆགས་ལ་གནས་པས་ན་དེ་ལྟར་བརྗོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Etymology: due to approaching the result of Non-Returner, i.e. abiding in a continuous application of effort in order to attain that.
