Approacher to Stream-Enterer

ཞུགས་པ་བཞིའི་ནང་ཚན་གང་ཞིག མཐོང་སྤང་ཀུན་སྦྱོར་གསུམ་སྤངས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པའི་དགེ་སྦྱོང་ཚུལ་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་ཐོབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་དུ་
བརྩོན་བཞིན་པའི་སྦྱོར་བ་རྒྱུན་ཆགས་ལ་གནས་པ། རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: Someone who is

1. A subdivision of the four Approachers and
2. Abiding in a continuous application of effort in order to attain the result of the Way of the Śramaṇa that abides in the class distinguished by having abandoned the three entanglements that are objects of abandonment of the path of seeing.

ས་མཚམས་ནི། སྦྱོར་ལམ་སྟན་གཅིག་པ་ནས་ལམ་རྗེས་བཟོད་ཀྱི་བར་དུ་ཡོད།
Boundaries: They exist from the single-session of the path of preparation and up to the subsequent forbearance in relation to paths.

རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཀྱི་འབྲས་བུ་ཐོབ་ཕྱིར་དུ་ཞུགས་པ་སྟེ་བརྩོན་བཞིན་པའི་སྦྱོར་བ་རྒྱུན་ཆགས་ལ་གནས་པས་དེ་སྐད་ཅེས་བྱའོ།
Etymology: due to approaching the result of Stream-Enterer, i.e. abiding in a continuous application of effort in order to attain that.

Division in terms of faculty: དབང་པོའི་སྒོ་ནས་

1. Approacher to Stream-Enterer who is a dull faculty follower of faith
   རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པ་དབང་རྟུལ་དད་པའི་རྗེས་འབྲང།
2. Approacher to Stream-Enterer who is a sharp faculty follower of dharma
   རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པ་དབང་རྣོན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྗེས་འབྲང་།

Division in terms of the mode of abandoning the objects of abandonment: སྤང་བྱ་སྤོང་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྒོ་ནས་

1. Simultaneous Abandoner Approachers to Stream-Enterer སྤང་བྱ་ཅིག་ཅར་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པ།
2. Serialist Approachers to Stream-Enterer སྤང་བྱ་རིམ་གྱིས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པ།

Division in terms of abandonment: (6) སྤངས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་

• Approachers to Stream-Enterer who have not abandoned even the first Desire Realm affliction,
  འདོད་ཉོན་དང་པོ་ཙམ་ཡང་མ་སྤངས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པ་དང་།
• From Approachers to Stream-Enterer who have abandoned just the first Desire Realm affliction and up to those who have abandoned the fifth Desire Realm affliction.
  འདོད་ཉོན་དང་པོ་ཙམ་སྤངས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པ་ནས། འདོད་ཉོན་ལྔ་པ་སྤངས་པའི་དེའི་བར་དྲུག་ཡོད།

དེ་ཡིན་ན། འདོད་ཉོན་དྲུག་པ་མ་སྤངས་པས་ཁྱབ།
If it is [an Approachers to Stream-Enterer], they are pervaded by not having abandoned the sixth Desire Realm affliction.

སྐྱེ་བ་ལེན་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྒོ་ནས་འདོད་པར་ལས་ཉོན་གྱིས་སྐྱེ་བ་གཅིག་ཀྱང་མི་ལེན་པ་ནས་འདོད་པར་སྐྱེ་བ་བདུན་ལེན་པའི་བར་དུ་ཡོད་དོ།
Division in terms of how they take rebirth: there are those who do not take even one rebirth in the Desire Realm due to karma and afflictions and up to those who take seven rebirths in the Desire Realm.
