Half-Skippers

གཟུགས་སུ་ཉེར་འགྲོའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གོང་འཕོ་འོག་མིན་མཐར་ཐུག་འགྲོ་གང་ཞིག །ཚངས་རིས་དང་གནས་གཙང་དང་པོ་གསུམ་གང་རུང་གཅིག་དང་།
འོག་མིན་ཏེ་གཟུགས་ཀྱི་སྐྱེ་སྲིད་གསུམ་ཁོ་ན་བླངས་ནས་འོག་མིན་གྱི་རྟེན་ལ་མྱང་འདས་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་པའི་རིགས་ཅན།
གཟུགས་སུ་ཉེར་འགྲོའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གོང་འཕོ་ཕྱེད་འཕར་བའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: Someone who is:

1. A Non-Returner proceeding to the Form Realm who transfers to the Upper Realms and ultimately proceeds to Akaniṣṭha and
2. In the class of actualising Nirvāṇa on an Akaniṣṭha support, having taken only three Form Realm birth-existences (Brahma Class, then any of the first three Pure Abodes, and then Akaniṣṭha).

རིགས་ཅན་དང་ཁོ་ན་སྨོས་པ་ལ་དགོས་པ་ཡོད་དེ། སྔར་བཞིན་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།
There is a purpose for saying “in the class” and “only”; it is as before.

གཟུགས་སུ་ཉེར་འགྲོའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གོང་འཕོ་དེས་རྒྱུའི་གནས་སྐབས་སུ་སྔར་བཞིན་བྱས་པས་ཤི་འཕོས་ཏེ་ཚངས་རིས་སུ་སྐྱེས། རྟེན་དེ་ལ་སྔོན་གོམས་པའི་དབང་གིས་བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་སྤེལ་སྒོམ་དང་པོ་གསུམ་པོ་གང་རུང་གྲུབ་པར་བྱས་པ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཤི་འཕོས་ཏེ་གནས་གཙང་དང་པོ་གསུམ་པོ་གང་རུང་གཅིག་ཏུ་སྐྱེས།
རྟེན་དེ་ལ་བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་སྤེལ་སྒོམ་ཆེས་ཤིན་ཏུ་ཆེན་པོ་བཅོ་ལྔ་སྤེལ་སྒོམ་བྱས་པ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཤི་འཕོས་ཏེ་འོག་མིན་དུ་སྐྱེས།
རྟེན་དེ་ལ་མྱང་འདས་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་པའི་ཆ་ནས་དེ་ཕྱེད་འཕར་དུ་བཞག
The Half-Skipper Non-Returners proceeding to the Form Realm who transfer to the Upper Realms are posited from the perspective of:

• Passing away and taking rebirth in Brahma Class having done as above at the time of the cause; then
• In dependence upon having accomplished any of the first three cultivations of alternating concentrations on that support due to the force of previous familiarity, they pass away and take rebirth in one of the first three Pure Abodes, [respectively]; then
• In dependence upon having engaged in the exceedingly great cultivation of alternating concentrations of fifteen alternations on that support, they pass away and take rebirth in Akaniṣṭha; and then
• They actualise Nirvāṇa on that support.
