Previously separated from attachment
ཐོད་རྒལ་བའི་ཉན་ཐོས་གང་ཞིག མཐོང་ལམ་གྱི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་འདོད་ཉོན་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱས་པ། ཆགས་བྲལ་སྔོན་སོང་གི་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of a Hearer Saṅgha previously separated from attachment is: Someone that is
- A Leaper Hearer and
- Has separated from attachment, [i.e. abandoned] the Desire Realm afflictions, prior to the path of seeing.
མཐོང་ལམ་གྱི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་འདོད་ཉོན་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱས་པའི་ཉན་ཐོས་ཡིན་པས་ན། ཆགས་བྲལ་སྔོན་སོང་ཞེས་བྱའོ།
Etymology: Due to being Hearers who have separated from attachment, [i.e. have abandoned] the Desire Realm afflictions, prior to the path of seeing.
Only applies to Non-Returners
ཆགས་བྲལ་སྔོན་སོང་གི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་མེད་དེ། མཐོང་ལམ་གྱི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་འཇིག་རྟེན་པའི་ཞི་རགས་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པ་ཅན་གྱི་ལམ་གྱིས་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཞུགས་པའི་སྤང་བྱའི་གཙོ་བོ་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱེད་མི་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ། དེའི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་མཐོང་སྤང་ཀུན་སྦྱོར་གསུམ་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱེད་མི་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There are no Stream-Enterers previously separated from attachment because a mundane path possessing the aspects of coarseness and peacefulness is not able to separate from attachment, [i.e. abandon] the main objects of abandonment of the Approacher to Stream-Enterer, prior to the path of seeing; because it is not able to separate from attachment, [i.e. abandon] the three entanglements that are objects of abandonment of the path of seeing prior to the path of seeing.
དེ་འདྲའི་ཕྱིར་འོང་མེད་དེ།
ཆགས་བྲལ་སྔོན་སོང་ཞེས་པའི་ཆགས་པ་དེ་སྤྱིར་འདོད་ཉོན་དང་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་འཇིག་རྟེན་པའི་སྒོམ་སྤང་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་འདོད་པའི་འདོད་ཆགས་ལ་བྱེད་རིགས་པ་གང་ཞིག
མཐོང་ལམ་གྱི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་དེ་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱས་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོང་མེད་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ། དེའི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་དངོས་གཞི་ཐོབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་འོང་མེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There are no such Once-Returners because 1) the “attachment” in “previously separated from attachment” refers to the Desire Realm afflictions in general and to Desire Realm attachment that is an object of abandonment of the mundane path of meditation in particular and 2) there are no Once-Returners who have separated from attachment to that prior to the path of seeing; because there are no Once-Returners who have attained an actual first concentration prior to [the path of seeing].
དེ་འདྲའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཡོད་དེ། ཆགས་བྲལ་སྔོན་སོང་ཞེས་པའི་ཆགས་པ་དེ་བཤད་མ་ཐག་པ་ལྟར་ཡིན་པ་གང་ཞིག
མཐོང་ལམ་གྱི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་དེ་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱས་པའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There is such a Non-Returner because 1) the “attachment” in “previously separated from attachment” is as was just explained and 2) there are Non-Returners who have separated from attachment to that prior to the path of seeing.
དེ་འདྲའི་དགྲ་བཅོམ་མེད་དེ།
མཐོང་ལམ་གྱི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་དགྲ་བཅོམ་ཞུགས་པའི་སྤང་བྱའི་གཙོ་བོ་ལ་ཆགས་བྲལ་བྱེད་མི་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ། དེའི་སྔ་རོལ་ཏུ་སྲིད་ཉོན་དགུ་པ་སྤོང་མི་ནུས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There are no such Foe-Destroyers because it is not possible to separate from attachment, [i.e. abandon] the main object of abandonment of an Approacher to Foe-Destroyer, prior to the path of seeing; because it is not possible to abandon the ninth Peak of Existence affliction prior to [the path of seeing].
