Serialists by way of abandonment

སྦྱོར་ལམ་སྟན་གཅིག་པའི་རྟོགས་པ་ཐོབ་པའི་ཉན་ཐོས་གང་ཞིག ཁམས་གསུམ་གྱི་སྒོམ་སྤང་ཉོན་མོངས་ཆུང་ངུའི་ཆུང་ངུ་དགུ་རིམ་གྱིས་སྤངས་པའམ་སྤོང་བའི་
རིགས་ཅན་གང་རུང་དེ། སྤང་བྱ་རིམ་གྱིས་པའི་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་དགེ་འདུན་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of a Serialist Hearer Saṅgha: Someone who is

A Hearer that has attained the realisation of the single-session path of preparation and
In the class of either having abandoned or who will abandon nine small of the small afflictions of the Three Realms that are objects of abandonment of the path of meditation gradually.

ཁམས་གསུམ་གྱི་སྒོམ་སྤང་ཉོན་མོངས་ཆུང་ངུའི་ཆུང་ངུ་དགུ་རིམ་གྱིས་སྤོང་བའི་ཉན་ཐོས་ཡིན་པས་ན་སྤང་བྱ་རིམ་གྱིས་པ་ཞེས་བྱའོ།
Etymology: Due to being Hearers who abandon the nine small of the small afflictions of the Three Realms that are objects of abandonment of the path of meditation gradually.

There exist Serialists for all four results; middle two are necessarily Serialists

སྤང་བྱ་རིམ་གྱིས་པའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཡོད་དེ། ཁམས་གསུམ་གྱི་སྒོམ་སྤང་ཉོན་མོངས་ཆུང་ངུའི་ཆུང་ངུ་དགུ་རིམ་གྱིས་སྤོང་བའི་རྒྱུན་ཞུགས་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There are Serialist Stream-Enterers because there are Stream-Enterers who abandon the nine small of the small afflictions of the Three Realms that are objects of abandonment of the path of meditation gradually.

ཕྱིར་འོང་དང་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་གང་རུང་ཡིན་ན། སྤང་བྱ་རིམ་གྱིས་པ་ཡིན་དགོས་ཏེ། འདོད་ཉོན་དྲུག་པ་དང་སྲིད་ཉོན་དྲུག་པ་ཅིག་ཅར་དུ་སྤོང་བའི་ཕྱིར་འོང་ཡང་མེད།
འདོད་ཉོན་དགུ་པ་དང་སྲིད་ཉོན་དགུ་པ་ཅིག་ཅར་དུ་སྤོང་བའི་ཕྱིར་མི་འོང་ཡང་མེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
If it is either a Once-Returner or Non-Returner, they are necessarily Serialists because:

There are no Once-Returners who abandon the sixth Desire Realm affliction and the sixth Peak of Existence affliction simultaneously, and
There are no Non-Returners who abandon the ninth Desire Realm affliction and the ninth Peak of Existence affliction simultaneously.

དེ་འདྲའི་དགྲ་བཅོམ་ཡོད་དེ། དེ་དགུ་རིམ་གྱིས་སྤངས་པའི་ཉན་ཐོས་དགྲ་བཅོམ་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There are such Foe-Destroyers because there are Hearer Foe-Destroyers who have abandoned those nine gradually.
