Actual meditative absorptions of the concentrations

ཡན་ལག་གི་སྒོ་ནས་རང་གི་འོག་ས་ལས་འདས་པའི་བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་སས་བསྡུས་པའི་དགེ་བའི་རིག་པ་དེ། བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་དངོས་གཞིའི་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A virtuous knower included within the level of the concentrations and has passed beyond its lower level by way of the branches.

Divisions:

1. First concentration བསམ་གཏན་དང་པོ།
2. Second concentration བསམ་གཏན་གཉིས་པ།
3. Third concentration བསམ་གཏན་གསུམ་པ།
4. Fourth concentration བསམ་གཏན་བཞི་པ།

བསམ་གཏན་རྣམས་ལ་ཡན་ལག་གི་སྒོ་ནས་རང་གི་འོག་ས་ལས་འདས་པ་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ།
དེ་རྣམས་གོང་མ་གོང་མས་རང་གི་འོག་མ་འོག་མའི་ཡན་ལག་རགས་པ་ལས་ངེས་པར་འབྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར།
དེ་རྣམས་ལ་ཡན་ལག་མི་འདྲ་བའི་ཁྱད་པར་ཡོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་གྱིས་དེ་ལྟར་བརྗོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Reason for "passed beyond its lower level by way of the branches" in these definitions: Due higher levels definitely emerging from the coarser branches of their lower levels; because their branches are different.

བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་དངོས་གཞིའི་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གང་ཞིག །རང་འབྲས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་བདེན་པ་སྐྱེད་བྱེད་ཀྱི་འཁོར་བས་བསྡུས་པ།
རྒྱུ་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་དངོས་གཞིའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of a causal meditative absorption of an actual concentration: That which is:

1. An actual meditative absorption of the concentrations and
2. Included within samsara, the producer of its resultant true sufferings.

ཚེ་རབས་གཞན་དུ་རྒྱུ་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་བསམ་གཏན་སྒོམ་པའི་རྣམ་སྨིན་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་དང་རྒྱུ་མཐུན་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་གང་རུང་གིས་བསྡུས་པའི་སྐྱེས་ཐོབ་ཀྱི་ཆོས།
འབྲས་བུ་སྐྱེ་བའི་བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད། དཔེར་ན་ཚངས་རིས་ནས་འོག་མིན་གྱི་བར་གྱི་སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་སྐྱེས་ཐོབ་ཀྱི་ཆོས་ལྟ་བུ།
Definition of a resultant birth of a concentration: A phenomenon attained through birth that is included in either the fruitional or causally concordant result of cultivating a causal meditative absorption of a concentration in other lifetimes.
Illustration: A phenomenon attained through birth in the continua of sentient beings from Brahma Class and up to Akanishta.
