Actual meditative absorptions of the Formless Realm

དམིགས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་རང་གི་འོག་ས་ལས་འདས་པའི་གཟུགས་མེད་ཀྱི་སས་བསྡུས་པའི་དགེ་བའི་རིག་པ། གཟུགས་མེད་ཀྱི་དངོས་གཞིའི་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A virtuous knower included within the level of the Formless Realm and has passed beyond its lower level by way of object of observation.

Divisions:

1. Limitless space ནམ་མཁའ་མཐའ་ཡས།
2. Limitless consciousness རྣམ་ཤེས་མཐའ་ཡས།
3. Nothingness ཅི་ཡང་མེད།
4. Peak of Existence སྲིད་རྩེ།

གཟུགས་མེད་རྣམས་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་རང་གི་འོག་ས་ལས་འདས་པ་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ།
དེ་རྣམས་གོང་མ་གོང་མས་རང་གི་འོག་མ་འོག་མའི་དམིགས་པ་ལས་ངེས་པར་འབྱུང་ཞིང་། དེ་རྣམས་ལ་དམིགས་པ་མི་འདྲ་བའི་ཁྱད་པར་ཡོད།
ཡན་ལག་མི་འདྲ་བའི་ཁྱད་པར་མེད་པས་དེ་ལྟར་བརྗོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Reason for "passed beyond its lower level by way of object of observation" in the definitions: Due to higher levels definitely emerging from the objects of observations of their lower levels and having different objects of observation; whereas there is no difference in branches. (as is the case for the concentrations)

གཟུགས་མེད་བཞི་པོ་དེ་ལ་ཡན་ལག་མི་འདྲ་བའི་ཁྱད་པར་མེད། དེ་རྣམས་དམིགས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་རང་རང་གི་འོག་ས་ལས་འདས་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
དེ་དག་དམིགས་རྣམ་སྔ་མ་རྣམས་དོར་ནས་ཕྱི་མ་ལ་འཇུག་པར་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Regarding these four formless absorptions:

• They have no difference in branches;
• They pass beyond their lower level by way of objects of observation because they engage in the latter objects having discarded the previous objects.

གཟུགས་མེད་ཀྱི་དངོས་གཞིའི་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གང་ཞིག །རང་འབྲས་སྡུག་བསྔལ་བདེན་པ་སྐྱེད་བྱེད་ཀྱི་འཁོར་བས་བསྡུས་པ།
རྒྱུ་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་གཟུགས་མེད་ཀྱི་དངོས་གཞིའི་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of a causal meditative absorption of an actual Formless Realm meditative absorption: That which is:

1. An actual meditative absorptions of the Formless Realm and
2. Included within samsara, the producer of its resultant true sufferings.

ཚེ་རབས་གཞན་དུ་རྒྱུ་སྙོམས་འཇུག་གི་གཟུགས་མེད་སྒོམ་པའི་རྣམ་སྨིན་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་དང་རྒྱུ་མཐུན་གྱི་འབྲས་བུ་གང་རུང་གིས་བསྡུས་པའི་སྐྱེས་ཐོབ་ཀྱི་ཆོས།
འབྲས་བུ་སྐྱེ་བའི་གཟུགས་མེད་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད། དཔེར་ན། གཟུགས་མེད་རིགས་བཞིར་སྐྱེས་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་སྐྱེས་ཐོབ་ཀྱི་ཆོས་ལྟ་བུ་སྟེ་སྔར་བཞིན་ནོ།
Definition of a resultant birth of a formless absorption: A phenomenon attained through birth that is included in either the fruitional or causally concordant result of cultivating a causal meditative absorption of a formless absorption in other lifetimes.
Illustration: A phenomenon attained through birth in the continua of sentient beings born in the four types of formless realms.
