མངོན་མཐོ་དང་། ངེས་ལེགས་གང་རུང་གི་ཡོན་ཏན་མཐོང་ཞིང་ཐོབ་པ་ལ་གེགས་བྱེད་ཀྱི་སྒྲིབ་པའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པ་གང་ཞིག
རང་གི་གཉེན་པོ་སྟོབས་ལྡན་གྱི་སྤང་བྱར་དམིགས་པ། འདིར་བསྟན་སྤང་བྱའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of an object of abandonment indicated in this context is: That which

1. Abides in the class of obscuration that obstruct the seeing and attainment of the qualities of either high status or definite goodness; and
2. Is observed as the object of abandonment of its potent antidote.

Middling division:

1. Obscurations of attachment ཆགས་པའི་སྒྲིབ་པ།
   i.e. afflictive obscurations
2. Obscurations of obstruction ཐོགས་པའི་སྒྲིབ་པ།
   i.e. knowledge obscurations
3. Obscurations of the lower དམན་པའི་སྒྲིབ་པ།

གསུམ་པ་ནི། དམན་པའི་ཞི་བདེས་ཐུགས་ཕྲོགས་ནས་ཐེག་ཆེན་སེམས་བསྐྱེད་ལ་བར་དུ་གཅོད་པའི་སྒྲིབ་པ་ལྟ་བུ།
The third are obscurations that are an obstacle to Mahayana mind generation through the mind being captivated by the peace of the Hinayana, for example.

2. Knowledge obscurations ཤེས་སྒྲིབ།

གཙོ་བོར་ཐར་པ་ཙམ་ཐོབ་པ་ལ་བར་དུ་གཅོད་བྱེད་ཀྱི་སྒྲིབ་པའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པ། ཉོན་སྒྲིབ་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of afflictive obscurations:
That abiding in the class of obscurations that mainly hinder just the attainment of liberation.

Divisions:

1. Manifest མངོན་གྱུར་པ།
   e.g. six root afflictions and twenty secondary afflictions རྩ་ཉོན་དྲུག ཉེ་ཉོན་ཉི་ཤུ་རྣམས།
2. Seeds ས་བོན་གྱི་ཆ།

ཉོན་མོངས་མངོན་གྱུར་པ་སྔ་མ་སྔ་མས་ཕྱི་མ་ཕྱི་མ་སྐྱེད་པའི་ནུས་པ་ལ་ཉོན་མོངས་པའི་ས་བོན་ཞེས་བྱ་སྟེ།
དེས་རྒྱུ་རྐྱེན་ཚང་ན་རང་གི་འབྲས་བུར་གྱུར་པའི་ཉོན་མོངས་པའི་ས་བོན་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
A potency for previous manifest afflictions to produce later ones is called the seed of the afflictions because it acts as the seed for its resultant afflictions when causes and conditions are complete.

Definition of knowledge obscuration:
That abiding in the class of obscurations that mainly hinder the attainment of the exalted knower of all.

Divisions:

1. Manifest མངོན་གྱུར་པ།
   There are 108 བརྒྱ་རྩ་བརྒྱད་ཡོད།
2. Seeds ས་བོན་གྱི་ཆ།
   The potency for earlier conceptions that are knowledge obscurations to produce later ones
   ཤེས་སྒྲིབ་རྟོག་པ་དེ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་སྔ་མ་སྔ་མས་ཕྱི་མ་ཕྱི་མ་སྐྱེད་པའི་ནུས་པ་ལྟ་བུའོ།

མི་སྡུག་པ་སྒོམ་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་དང་། ཞི་རགས་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པ་ཅན་གྱི་སོ་སྐྱེའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་སོགས་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པར་ནུས་པའི་སྤང་བྱར་དམིགས་པ།
འཇིག་རྟེན་པའི་ལམ་གྱི་སྤང་བྱའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of an object of abandonment of a mundane path:
That observed to be an object of abandonment that can be supressed in dependence upon the concentration meditating on the unattractive, an ordinary being's concentration possessing the aspects of coarseness and subtlety, and so forth.

ཅི་ཡང་མེད་པ་མན་ཆད་ཀྱི་སས་བསྡུས་ཀྱི་འཇིག་རྟེན་པའི་སྒོམ་སྤང་ཉོན་མོངས་དང་། མི་དགེ་བའི་ལས་དང་། སྒོ་གསུམ་གྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་ངན་པ་སོགས་དུ་མར་ཡོད།
There are many: afflictions that are objects of abandonment of the mundane path of meditation included in the levels of Nothingness and below, its non-virtuous actions, negative behaviour of the three doors, and so forth.

སྤང་བྱ་ཀུན་བརྟགས་སུ་དམིགས་པ་གང་ཞིག །རང་གི་དངོས་གཉེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་བར་ཆད་མེད་ལམ་གྱི་གཞོམ་བྱར་དམིགས་པ། མཐོང་སྤང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of an object of abandonment of the path of seeing: That which is:

1. Observed to be an acquired object of abandonment; and
2. Observed to be that eliminated by the uninterrupted path that is its direct antidotes.

སྤང་བྱ་ལྷན་སྐྱེས་གང་ཞིག །རང་གི་དངོས་གཉེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་བར་ཆད་མེད་ལམ་གྱི་གཞོམ་བྱར་དམིགས་པ། སྒོམ་སྤང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of an object of abandonment of the path of meditation: That which is:

1. An innate object of abandonment; and
2. Observed to be that eliminated by the uninterrupted path that is its direct antidotes.
