Synonyms and etymologies
ས་དང་། ལམ་དང་། མཁྱེན་པ་དང་། ལམ་ཞུགས་ཀྱི་མངོན་རྟོགས་རྣམས་མིང་གི་རྣམ་གྲངས་ཡིན།
Synonyms: ground, path, exalted knower, and clear realisation of a path-enterer.

Mutually inclusive with path of accumulation:
- Path of accumulation (ཚོགས་ལམ།) - due to being the first path where one accumulates the collections for attaining liberation ཐར་པ་ཐོབ་ཕྱིར་ཚོགས་བསགས་པའི་ལམ་གྱི་དང་པོ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
- Ground of faith (དད་པའི་ས།) - due to being the path on the occasion of mastering the five powers of faith and so forth དད་སོགས་ཡུལ་ལྔ་ལ་མཁས་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
- Partial concordance with liberation (ཐར་པ་ཆ་མཐུན།) - because liberation is the true cessation that has abandoned the afflictive obscurations; since the true cessation that has abandoned the acquired afflictive obscurations is a part of liberation, it is a path [partially] concordant with the attainment of that ཉོན་སྒྲིབ་སྤངས་པའི་འགོག་བདེན་ཐར་པ་ཡིན་ཞིང་། ཉོན་སྒྲིབ་ཀུན་བརྟགས་སྤངས་པའི་འགོག་བདེན་ཐར་པའི་ཆ་ཡིན་པས།
ཁྱོད་དེ་ཐོབ་པ་དང་རྗེས་སུ་མཐུན་པའི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - Clear realisation of dharma (ཆོས་མངོན་རྟོགས།) - due to being the occasion of settling the meaning of dharma scriptures mainly through listening and contemplating
ཆོས་གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་ཚིག་དོན་གཙོ་བོར་ཐོས་བསམ་གྱི་གཏན་ལ་འབེབས་པའི་སྐབས་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Mutually inclusive with path of preparation:
- Path of preparation (སྦྱོར་ལམ།) - due to being the path the prepares for directly perceiving the truths
བདེན་པ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་མཐོང་བ་ལ་སྦྱོར་བར་བྱེད་པའི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - Partial concordance with definite discrimination (ངེས་འབྱེད་ཆ་མཐུན།) - because the non-conceptual exalted wisdom of meditative equipoise [of the path of seeing] is called "definite discrimination" and it is partially concordant with that མཉམ་གཞག་རྣམ་པར་མི་རྟོག་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལ་ངེས་འབྱེད་ཅེས་བྱ་ལ། དེ་དང་ཆ་མཐུན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
- Branch of definite discrimination (ངེས་འབྱེད་ཡན་ལག) - due to being a branch, i.e. a cause, of that
དེའི་ཡན་ལག་སྟེ་རྒྱུ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - Clear realisation of meaning (དོན་མངོན་རྟོགས།) - due to being the path on the occasion of inducing an experience arisen from meditation of either the coarse or subtle selflessness that are the meaning of the scriptures གསུང་རབ་ཀྱི་དོན་བདག་མེད་ཕྲ་རགས་གང་རུང་ལ་སྒོམ་བྱུང་གི་མྱོང་བ་ཐོན་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Mutually inclusive with path of seeing:
- Path of seeing (མཐོང་ལམ།) - due to being the path on the occasion of directly perceiving the four truths
བདེན་བཞི་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་མཐོང་བའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - Clear realisation of truth (བདེན་པ་མངོན་རྟོགས།) - due to being the path on the occasion of directly and newly realising the truths བདེན་པ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་གསར་དུ་རྟོགས་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Also: the uninterrupted path of seeing (for example) is called "definite discrimination" due to being a path that is definitively separated from the objects of abandonment of the path of seeing.
མཐོང་སྤང་ལས་ངེས་པར་འབྱེད་པའི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Mutually inclusive with path of meditation:
- Path of meditation (སྒོམ་ལམ།) - due to being the path on the occasion of continuously cultivating the direct realisation of selflessness which was previously realised
བདག་མེད་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་རྟོགས་ཟིན་རྒྱུན་ལྡན་དུ་སྒོམ་པར་བྱེད་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - Subsequent clear realisation (རྗེས་ལ་མངོན་རྟོགས།) - due to being the path on the occasion of realising the previous direct realisation of truth བདེན་པ་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་རྟོགས་ཟིན་རྟོགས་པའི་གནས་སྐབས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
An Arhat's exalted knower is called a "path of no more learning" because it is a path deserving of homage by those possessing attachment and that has abandoned the afflictive obscurations.
ཆགས་བཅས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཕྱག་བྱ་བའི་འོས་སུ་གྱུར་པ་དང་། ཉོན་སྒྲིབ་སྤངས་པའི་ལམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
