Definition of Mahayana path of meditation indicated in this context: A Mahayana subsequent clear realisation that continues what has previously been realised during the paths of preparation, seeing, and meditation, in terms of:

• Contemplating again and again the meaning listened to on the branches of definite discrimination by means of the four analytical reasonings;
• Comprehending again and again the meaning contemplated on the path of seeing by means of the nine calm-abidings entering equipoise on those; and
• Ascertaining again and again the nine meanings of the path of meditation by means of the four special insights of discrimination, thorough discrimination, thorough investigation, and thorough analysis.

ཐེག་ཆེན་གྱི་སྒོམ་ལམ་ལ་ཐེག་ཆེན་གྱི་སྒོམ་ལམ་ཆུང་ངུའི་ཆུང་ངུ་ནས། དེ་ཆེན་པོའི་ཆེན་པོའི་བར་དགུར་དབྱེར་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Divisions: small of the small and up the the great of the great (9)

དེ་ལ་དེ་དགུར་གྲངས་ངེས་པ་ཡང་ཡིན་ཏེ། དེ་བསྐལ་པ་གྲངས་མེད་གཉིས་སུ་སྐད་ཅིག་སྔ་ཕྱི་རྒྱུན་ཆགས་སུ་འབྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར།
Definite in number: Due to continuously arising over two countless eons.

ཐེག་ཆེན་གྱི་སྒོམ་ལམ་དེ་ལ་ཆུང་འབྲིང་ཆེན་པོའི་དབྱེ་བའི་རྣམ་པ་དགུར་འབྱེད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ།
འདོད་པ་ནས་སྲིད་རྩེའི་བར་གྱི་ཁམས་གསུམ་ས་དགུའི་སྒོམ་སྤང་གི་གཉེན་པོར་གྲངས་མེད་གཉིས་སུ་རྒྱུན་ཆགས་སུ་འབྱུང་བའི་ཕྱིར།
Reason for dividing into those nine: Due to continuously arising over two countless eons as the antidotes to the objects of abandonment of the path of meditation included in the three realms nine level, from the Desire Realm and up to the Peak of Existence.
