Concentration of knowing aspirations
རང་གི་བདག་རྐྱེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་རབ་མཐའི་བསམ་གཏན་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཆགས་ཐོགས་སྤངས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་མཐར་ཐུག་པའི་མཁྱེན་པ།
སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་སྨོན་གནས་མཁྱེན་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A final exalted knower distinguished by having abandoned hindrances and obstructions in dependence upon the final concentration that is its empowering condition.
Divisions:
- Of Hearers ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི།
- Of Tathagatas དེ་པའི།
དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པའི་སྨོན་གནས་མཁྱེན་པ་ཆོས་ཅན། ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་སྨོན་གནས་མཁྱེན་པ་ལས་ཁྱད་ཆོས་ལྔའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་འཕགས་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
The subject - the Tathagatas' exalted knower of aspirations - is superior to that of Hearers' by way of five distinguishing characteristics:
- Spontaneous: due to being engaged in naturally without effort
འབད་རྩོལ་མེད་པར་རང་གི་ངང་གིས་འཇུག་པས་ལྷུན་གྱིས་གྲུབ་པ།
Gyaltsab: Spontaneously enacting others' welfare by way of having separated from and pacified all signs of motivational effort wrt correct actions of body and speech
ཡང་དག་པར་ལུས་ངག་གི་ལས་ཀུན་ནས་སློང་བའི་འབད་རྩོལ་་གྱི་མཚན་མ་ཐམས་ཅད་དང་བྲལ་ཞིང་ཞི་བའི་སྒོ་ནས་གཞན་དོན་ལྷུན་གྲུབ་ཏུ་བྱེད་པ། - Abandoned hindrance: due to being uninterrupted རྒྱུན་མི་འཆད་པས་ཆགས་པ་སྤངས་པ།
Gyaltsab: Eliminating grasping to true existence wrt all objects of knowledge
ཤེས་བྱ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བདེན་པར་ཆགས་པ་བཅོམ་པ། - Without obstruction: due to engaging all objects of knowledge ཤེས་བྱ་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་འཇུག་པས་ཐོགས་པ་མེད་པ།
- Permanently abiding: due to abiding in others' welfare until samsara ends
འཁོར་བ་མ་སྟོང་གི་བར་དུ་གཞན་དོན་དུ་གནས་པས་རྟག་ཏུ་གནས་པ། - Answering questions: due to giving all requested answers ཞུས་པའི་ལན་ཐམས་ཅད་འདེབས་པས་དྲི་བའི་ལན་ལྡོན་པ།
ཇི་ལྟར་ལན་ལྡོན་པ་ནི། བདེན་སྨྲས་ཞུས་པ་ལས།
ཇི་ལྟར་སེམས་ཅན་ཀུན་གྱིས་ངེས་ཚིག་གིས། །མང་པོ་དག་གིས་དུས་གཅིག་ཞུ་ཞུས་ཀྱང་།
སེམས་ཀྱི་སྐད་ཅིག་གཅིག་ལ་ཐུགས་ཆུད་ནས། །གསུང་དབྱངས་གཅིག་གིས་སོ་སོར་ལན་ཡང་འདེབས། །ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་ལྟར་རོ།
How do they answer questions? Sutra says:
Though all sentient beings as many questions
At the same time and in many ways,
Understanding those in a single moment of mind,
Answering them individually with a single uttered syllable.
