Concentration of non-affliction
རང་གི་བདག་རྐྱེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་རབ་མཐའི་བསམ་གཏན་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས། རང་རྒྱུད་ལྡན་གྱི་གང་ཟག་དེ་ལ་དམིགས་པའམ་གང་ཟག་གཞན་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་ཉོན་མོངས་ཆུང་ངུ་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་ནུས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན། ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་གྱི་ངོ་བོ།
Entity: A concentration in the continuum of an Arhat that is distinguished by the ability to outshine small afflictions observing the person in whose continuum it is or other persons, in dependence upon the final concentration that is its empowering condition.
Divisions:
- Of Hearers ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་དང་།
- Of Tathagatas ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་གཉིས་སུ་ཡོད།
ས་མཚམས། རབ་མཐའི་བསམ་གཏན་ཐོབ་པའི་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་མཐའ་དག་གི་རྒྱུད་ལ་ཡོད་དོ།
Boundaries: exists in the continua of all Arhats that have attained a final concentration.
ཉན་ཐོས་ལ་སོགས་པའི་ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་ལས་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་བྱེད་ལས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་ནས་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་འཕགས་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ།
སྔ་མས་གྲོང་སོགས་སུ་མིས་མཚོན་པའི་སེམས་ཅན་གང་དག་གིས་ཉན་ཐོས་རང་ཉིད་མཐོང་བ་ན་རང་ཉིད་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་ཉོན་མོངས་སྐྱེ་བ་སྤོང་པར་འདོད་པ་ཙམ་གྱིས་
དེ་ཙམ་ཞིག་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན། ཕྱི་མས་ནི་སེམས་ཅན་འདི་བདག་ལ་དམིགས་ནས་ཉོན་མོངས་རྒྱུན་དུ་གནས་པར་མ་གྱུར་ཅིག་ཅེས་དེ་ལ་ལྷག་པར་གཟིགས་པར་བཞེད་ཅིང་གྲོང་སོགས་སུ་གཤེགས་ནས་སེམས་ཅན་དེའི་ཉོན་མོངས་རྣམས་རྒྱུན་གཅོད་པར་བྱེད་པའི་བྱེད་ལས་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ།
The Buddhas' concentration of non-affliction is superior to that of Hearers etc. by way of function because:
- When sentient beings (i.e. people) in a village and so forth see the Hearer, it outshines merely through wishing to abandon the arising of [their] afflictions observing oneself [i.e. the Hearer]
- The other has a superior wish, "Through these sentient beings observing me, may their afflictions not remain!" and possesses the function of cutting the continuum of their afflictions when going to villages and so forth.
འདི་གཉིས་ལྟར་ན་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱིས་ནི་དམིགས་རྐྱེན་དུ་གྱུར་དོགས་ནས་སེམས་ཅན་དེ་དག་གི་དྲུང་དུ་མི་འགྲོ་བར་མངོན་ནོ།
In accordance with these, doubting whether they become an observed-object condition for the Hearers', it is clear they do not have to be present for those sentient beings.
སངས་རྒྱས་འཕགས་པའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་དེ། ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་དེ་ལས་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་འཕགས་པའི་དོན་ཡོད་དེ།
The meditative stabilisation of non-affliction in the continuum of an Arya Buddha is superior to that of the Hearers:
- Despite possessing the mere ability to supress the arising of afflictions when the person possessing the meditative stabilisation of non-affliction in their continuum is observed by other people, it does not possess the ability to completely uproot afflictions (attachment etc.) in the continua of disciples;
ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་ཉོན་མོངས་མེད་པའི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་དེ་རང་རྒྱུད་ལ་ལྡན་པའི་གང་ཟག་ལ། གང་ཟག་གཞན་གྱིས་དམིགས་ཏེ།
ཉོན་མོངས་སྐྱེ་བ་མགོ་གནོན་ནུས་པ་ཙམ་དང་ལྡན་ཡང་གདུལ་བྱའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་ཆགས་སོགས་ཉོན་མོངས་པ་དྲུང་ནས་འབྱིན་ནུས་པའི་ནུས་པ་དང་མི་ལྡན། - That in the continuum of an Arya Buddha is not only able to do that, it also possesses the ability to completely uproot those. སངས་རྒྱས་འཕགས་པའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་དེས་དེ་ལྟར་ནུས་པར་མ་ཟད། ཅིག་ཤོས་དྲུང་ནས་འབྱིན་པའི་ནུས་པ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
བྱས་པ་ལ་ཁོ་ན་རེ། སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་འབད་མེད་དུ་གྲོལ་བར་ཐལ། དམ་བཅའ་འཐད་པ་གང་ཞིག །སངས་རྒྱས་འཕགས་པས་གདུལ་བྱའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་ཆགས་སོགས་ཉོན་མོངས་པ་དྲུང་ནས་འབྱིན་པ་ལ་དུས་རྟག་ཏུ་བསྙེལ་བ་མི་མངའ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེན་པོ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར། ཟེར་ན།
Someone says: It follows that all sentient beings are effortlessly liberated because 1) that assertion is correct and 2) Arya Buddhas possess the great compassion of never forgetting to completely uproot afflictions (attachment etc.) in the continua of disciples.
མ་ཁྱབ་སྟེ། ཤེས་བྱ་ཆོས་ཅན། སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་འབད་མེད་དུ་གྲོལ་བར་ཐལ། སངས་རྒྱས་འཕགས་པས་གདུལ་བྱའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་ཆགས་སོགས་དྲུང་ནས་འབྱིན་པའི་ཐབས་མ་ནོར་བར་སྟོན་པ་གང་ཞིག །སངས་རྒྱས་འཕགས་པ་དེ་དེ་ལྟར་སྟོན་པ་ལ་དུས་རྟག་ཏུ་བསྙེལ་བ་མི་མངའ་བའི་ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེན་པོ་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར། ཁྱབ་པ་ཁས།
There is no pervasion: The subject - objects of knowledge - it follows that all sentient beings are effortlessly liberated because 1) Arya Buddhas unmistakenly teach the methods for completely uprooting afflictions (attachment etc.) in the continua of disciples and 2) those Arya Buddhas possess the great compassion of never forgetting to teach as such. You asserted the pervasion.
