Concentration

སེམས་དགེ་བའི་དམིགས་པ་ལ་རྩེ་གཅིག་ཏུ་གནས་པས་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་སྒོམ་བྱུང་གི་རིག་པ། བསམ་གཏན་གྱི་ངོ་བོ།
Entity: An awareness arisen from meditation distinguished by the mind abiding single-pointedly upon a virtuous object of observation.

Divisions by way of entity: ངོ་བོའི་སྒོ་ནས། འཇིག་རྟེན་པ་དང་འཇིག་རྟེན་ལས་འདས་པའི་བསམ་གཏན་གཉིས།

1. Mundane
2. Supramundane

Division by way of function: བྱེད་ལས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་ནས།

1. Concentration for happily abiding in the present life མཐོང་ཆོས་ལ་བདེར་གནས་ཀྱི་བསམ་གཏན།
2. Concentration for accomplishing qualities ཡོན་ཏན་མངོན་པར་སྒྲུབ་པའི་བསམ་གཏན།
3. Concentration for enacting the welfare of sentient beings སེམས་ཅན་དོན་བྱེད་ཀྱི་བསམ་གཏན་གསུམ་དུ་ཡོད་དོ།

The subject - the concentration in the continuum of an Arya Bodhisattva - it possesses three distinguishing features: བྱང་སེམས་འཕགས་པའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་བསམ་གཏན་ཆོས་ཅན། ཁྱད་ཆོས་གསུམ་དང་ལྡན་ཏེ།

1. Acting to degenerate distractions (its discordant class) རང་གི་མི་མཐུན་ཕྱོགས་རྣམ་གཡེང་ཉམས་པར་བྱེད།
2. Conjoined with the exalted wisdom of not conceiving a self of phenomena (its assistant)
   གྲོགས་རྣམ་པར་མི་རྟོག་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཀྱིས་ཟིན་པ།
3. Ripening sentient beings through emanating whatever one wishes to sentient beings, emanating by way of making the mind single-pointed wrt a virtuous object of observation and making it serviceable (its function) བྱེད་ལས་སེམས་དགེ་བའི་དམིགས་པ་ལ་རྩེ་གཅིག་ཏུ་བྱེད་ཅིང་སེམས་ལས་རུང་དུ་བྱས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་སྤྲུལ་པ་བྱས་ནས་སེམས་ཅན་ལ་
   གང་འདོད་འདོད་སྤྲུལ་ནས་སེམས་ཅན་རྣམས་སྨིན་པར་བྱེད་པའི་ཁྱད་ཆོས་དང་ལྡན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
