Divisions of Mind Generation

1. By way of examples དཔེའི་སྒོ་ནས། (Twenty-two Bodhicittas)
2. By way of boundaries ས་མཚམས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་ནས།
   1. Mind generation that engages through belief, during engagement through belief
      མོས་སྤྱོད་ཀྱི་སྐབས་སུ་མོས་པས་སྤྱོད་པའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
   2. Mind generation of pure superior intention, on the seven impure grounds
      མ་དག་ས་བདུན་དུ་ལྷག་བསམ་དག་པའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
   3. Mind generation of full ripening, on the three pure grounds
      དག་པ་ས་གསུམ་དུ་རྣམ་པར་སྨིན་པའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
   4. Mind generation that has abandoned obscuration, on the Buddha ground
      སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་སར་སྒྲིབ་པ་སྤངས་པའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
3. By way of mode of generation བསྐྱེད་ཚུལ་གྱི་སྒོ་ནས།
   1. King-like mind generation: the wish to lead all sentient beings to enlightenment, after having first attained enlightenment oneself. རྒྱལ་པོ་ལྟ་བུའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
   2. Shepherd-like mind generation: the wish to attain enlightenment oneself, after having first set all sentient being on the Buddha ground. ཕྱུགས་རྫི་ལྟ་བུའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
   3. Captain-like mind generation: the wish for oneself and all sentient beings to enlighten at the same time. མཉན་པ་ལྟ་བུའི་སེམས་བསྐྱེད།
4. By way of coarseness and subtlety ཕྲ་རགས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་ནས།
   1. Coarse: arisen from words རགས་པ་བརྡ་ལས་བྱུང་བ།
      1. Assisted: arising through the force of a virtuous friend, it is unstable
         གྲོགས་དགེ་བའི་བཤེས་གཉེན་གྱི་སྟོབས་ལས་བྱུང་བ་མི་བརྟན་པ།
      2. Cause: arising through the force of lineage, it is stable
         རྒྱུ་རིགས་ཀྱི་སྟོབས་ལས་བྱུང་བ་བརྟན་པ།
      3. Force of previous familiarity with virtue, it is stable
         སྔོན་དགེ་བ་གོམས་པའི་སྟོབས་བརྟན་པ།
      4. Force of much hearing, it is stable
         མང་དུ་ཐོས་པའི་སྟོབས་བརྟན་པ།
      5. Arising through the force of familiarity with virtue in this life
         ཚེ་འདིར་དགེ་བ་གོམས་པའི་སྟོབས་ལས་བྱུང་བ།
   2. Subtle: attained through the force of dharmatā ཕྲ་བ་ཆོས་ཉིད་ཀྱི་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས་ཐོབ་པ།
      e.g. ultimate bodhicitta དོན་དམ་སེམས་བསྐྱེད་ལྟ་བུའོ།
