Eight eclipsings

རང་གི་བདག་རྐྱེན་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་དངོས་གཞིའི་སེམས་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཟད་པར་གྱི་དམིགས་ཡུལ་རྣམས་ཇི་ལྟར་འདོད་པ་བཞིན་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པར་ནུས་པས་
རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བའི་རིག་པ། ཟིལ་གནོན་གྱི་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of an eclipsing concentration: A knower distinguished by the ability to eclipse the objects of observation of the totalities according to one's wishes in dependence upon a mind of an actual [concentration or absorption] that is its empowering condition.

Divisions:

• Eclipsing shapes དབྱིབས་ཟིལ་གནོན་གྱི་སྐྱེ་མཆེད་བཞི།
  The yogi having discrimination of themselves having internal form and not having it, views small and great external forms. (4)
  ནང་རྣལ་འབྱོར་པ་རང་ཉིད་ལ་གཟུགས་ཅན་དང་གཟུགས་མེད་དུ་འདུ་ཤེས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཕྱི་རོལ་གྱི་གཟུགས་ཆུང་ངུ་དང་ཆེན་པོ་རྣམས་ལ་རྣམ་པར་ལྟ་བ།
• Eclipsing colours ཁ་དོག་ཟིལ་གནོན་གྱི་སྐྱེ་མཆེད་བཞི།
  The yogi having discrimination of themselves as without internal form, views external forms of blue, yellow, red, and white. (4)
  ནང་རྣལ་འབྱོར་པ་རང་ལ་གཟུགས་མེད་པར་འདུ་ཤེས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་ཕྱི་རོལ་གྱི་གཟུགས་སྔོན་པོ་སེར་པོ་དམར་པོ་དང་དཀར་པོ་རྣམས་ལ་རྣམ་པར་ལྟ་བ།

ས་མཚམས་ལམ་མ་ཞུགས་ནས་ཡོད་དོ།
Boundaries: from before having entered a path.

Regarding eclipsing shapes, Golden Rosary:

• Small refers to the bodies of sentient beings and can be divided into good and bad (བཟང་ངན།), referring to the bodies of gods and humans respectively;
• Great refers to mountains, houses, etc., and is similarly divided into those of gods and humans.
• Therefore, the four are:
  1. Discrimination of having form:
     1. Bodies of gods eclipsing the bodies of humans
     2. Houses etc. of gods eclipsing those of humans
  2. Discrimination of not having form:
     1. Bodies of gods eclipsing the bodies of humans
     2. Houses etc. of gods eclipsing those of humans

Five types of eclipsings:

1. Of the small by the great ཆེ་བས་ཆུང་བ་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པ།
2. Of the weaker by the stronger སྟོབས་ཆེ་བས་སྟོབས་ཆུང་བ་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པ།
3. Making something disappear སྔར་སྣང་བ་མི་སྣང་བར་བྱས་ནས་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པ།
4. By means of disproving, e.g. abandoning the afflictions ཉོན་མོངས་སྤོང་བ་ལྟ་བུ་སུན་འབྱིན་པས་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པ།
5. Through force, e.g. a master ruling his slave རྗེ་བོས་བྲན་ལ་དབང་བྱེད་པ་ལྟ་བུ་དབང་བྱེད་པར་ཟིལ་གྱིས་གནོན་པ།

Here, they are included within the third and fifth.
