Etymology of the six perfections

Generosity: due to alleviating poverty དབུལ་བ་དོར་བས་སྦྱིན་པ།
Ethics: due to clearing away the torment of the afflictions ཉོན་མོངས་པའི་ཚ་གདུང་སེལ་བས་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས།
Patience: due to forbearing the harm of anger ཁོང་ཁྲོའི་གནོད་པ་བཟོད་པས་བཟོད་པ།
Joyous effort: due to application in supreme qualities ཡོན་ཏན་མཆོག་ལ་སྦྱོར་བས་བརྩོན་འགྲུས།
Concentration: due to holding the mind on the object ཡིད་དམིགས་པ་ལ་འཛིན་པས་བསམ་གཏན།
Wisdom: due to knowing the meaning དོན་ཤེས་པས་ཤེས་རབ་ཅེས་བྱ།
