Knower-characteristics of applications of a Knower of Bases
དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་འབྱུང་བ་སོགས་གཞི་ཤེས་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པ་གང་ཡང་རུང་བ་ལ་དམིགས་པའི་ཐེག་དམན་གྱི་རྟོགས་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པའི་སེམས་དཔའི་རྣལ་འབྱོར།
གཞི་ཤེས་སྦྱོར་བའི་བྱེ་བྲག་གི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Individual characteristics: A Bodhisattva yoga abiding in the Hinayana class of realisations and observing any aspect of a knower of bases, such as the arising of Tathagatas and so forth.
These sixteen knower-characteristics characterise the four Applications of a Knower of Bases in the continuum of a Bodhisattva (from among the sixteen applications of the path perfection of wisdom).
Sixteen knower-characteristics:
- Arising of Tathagatas (དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་འབྱུང་བ།) - Tathagatas knowing that the strengths of Tathagatas and so forth arise from the application of a knower of bases in a Bodhisattva's continuum
དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པས་སེམས་དཔའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་གཞི་ཤེས་སྦྱོར་བ་ལས་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པའི་སྟོབས་སོགས་འབྱུང་བ་ཤེས་པ། - Non-disintegration of the world (འཇིག་རྟེན་འཇིག་པ་མེད་པ།) - Tathagatas knowing that the world does not ultimately disintegrate in dependence upon the perfection of wisdom of the application of a knower of bases གཞི་ཤེས་ཀྱི་སྦྱོར་བའི་ཤེར་ཕྱིན་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པས་འཇིག་རྟེན་དོན་དམ་པར་འཇིག་པ་མེད་པར་ཤེས་པ།
- Mental activities of sentient beings (སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྤྱོད་པ།) - knowing all the mental activities of sentient beings སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་སེམས་ཀྱི་སྤྱོད་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing gathered minds and distracted minds སེམས་བསྡུས་པ་དང་སེམས་རྣམ་པར་གཡེང་བ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing the aspect of inexhaustible mind སེམས་མི་ཟད་པའི་རྣམ་པ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing minds together with and free from attachment as naturally free from elaborations
སེམས་འདོད་ཆགས་དང་བཅས་པ་དང་བྲལ་བ་དང༌། - Knowing minds together with and free from aversion as naturally free from elaborations
ཞེ་སྡང་དང་བཅས་པ་དང་བྲལ་བ་དང༌། - Knowing minds together with and free from ignorance as naturally free from elaborations
གཏི་མུག་དང་བཅས་པ་དང་བྲལ་བ་རྣམས་སྤྲོས་བྲལ་གྱི་ངོ་བོར་ཤེས་པ་གསུམ། - Knowing vast minds སེམས་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing minds that are great སེམས་ཆེན་པོར་གྱུར་པ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing limitless minds སེམས་ཚད་མེད་པ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing indemonstrable minds སེམས་བསྟན་དུ་མེད་པ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing invisible minds སེམས་བལྟར་མེད་པ་ཤེས་པ།
- Knowing minds that waver and so forth སེམས་གཡོ་བ་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཤེས་པ། (see: Divisions of wrong views)
- Knowing those minds that waver and so forth in the aspect of suchness
སེམས་གཡོ་བ་ལ་སོགས་པ་དེ་དག་དེ་བཞིན་ཉིད་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པ་ཅན་དུ་ཤེས་པ། - Tathagatas knowing to indicate and designate suchness to disciples in accordance with their own realisations དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པས་དེ་བཞིན་ཉིད་རང་གིས་རྟོགས་པ་ལྟར་གདུལ་བྱ་གཞན་ལ་བསྟན་ཅིང་བཏགས་པའམ་འདོགས་པ་ཤེས་པ།
