Knower of bases

རང་རྒྱུད་ལྡན་གྱི་གང་ཟག་གི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་གང་ཟག་གི་བདག་མེད་མངོན་སུམ་དུ་རྟོགས་པའི་ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱིས་ཟིན་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་གང་ཞིག
ཐེག་དམན་གྱི་རྟོགས་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པ། གཞི་ཤེས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: That which is:

1. An exalted wisdom conjoined with the wisdom directly realising the selflessness of persons in the continuum of the person possessing it in their continuum; and
2. Abiding in the Hinayana class of realisations.

Etymology of "bases": aggregates, constituents, and sources (ཕུང་ཁམས་སྐྱེས་མཆེད་གསུམ།), but can mean the sixteen aspects plus non-duality (17) as objects of the mode of apprehension (འཛིན་སྟངས་ཀྱི་ཡུལ།). Therefore:
Understood meaning: That which is a Hinayana class of realisation in the continuum of an Arya realising any of those seventeen. (Can also be conceptual).

སེམས་ཅན་གྱི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་གཞི་ཤེས་ཡིན་ན་སྟོང་ཉིད་མ་རྟོགས་པས་ཁྱབ་སྟེ། ཐེག་དམན་གྱི་རྟོགས་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་དེ་དམིགས་གསལ།
If it is a knower of bases in the continuum of a sentient being, it is pervaded by not realising emptiness because of abiding in the Hinayana class of realisations. That of a Buddha is a special case.

Therefore, the knower of bases indicated in this context:

• Explicitly: wisdom directly realising emptiness in the continuum of a Bodhisattva
  • The surpassing Mahayana path of seeing
  • The conjoiner (ཟིན་བྱེད།) of the knower of bases
• Implicitly + Mainly indicated: wisdom realising any of the 17 in the continuum of a Bodhisattva
  • Directly: e.g. the surpassed clear realisations
  • Conceptually: e.g. the path of preparation that is their cause
• Implicitly: wisdom realising those in the continua of Hearers and Solitary Realisers

Divisions:

1. Knower of bases of the antidote class གཉེན་པོ་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་གཞི་ཤེས།
2. Knower of bases of the discordant class མི་མཐུན་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་གཞི་ཤེས།

འཕགས་པ་མཐའ་དག་གི་རྒྱུད་ལ་ཡོད།
Boundaries: Exists in the continuum of all Aryas.

Discussion:

1. Adherence to signs in relation to bases and paths
2. Adherence to signs in relation to the result

Stages of the path of the three capacity beings:

1. Small capacity being སྐྱེས་བུ་ཆུང་ངུ་།
2. Middling capacity being སྐྱེས་བུ་འབྲིང་།
3. Great capacity being སྐྱེས་བུ་ཆེན་པོ།
