Leaping meditative absorptions

Presentation in Sutra

རྒྱས་འབྲིང་བསྡུས་གསུམ་ལས་སྲིད་རྩེའི་ནུད་ཆུང་མ་བཤད་པར། ཁྲི་བརྒྱད་སྟོང་པར་དེ་བཤད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ།
There is a reason for the Peak of Existence Small Retreat not being explained in the Extensive, Middling, and Brief Mothers but being explained in the 18-Thousand:

བྱང་སེམས་དབང་རྣོན་ཕལ་ཆེ་བས་སྲིད་རྩེའི་ནུད་ཆུང་བྱས་པ་ལ་མི་ལྟོས་པར་མཚམས་འཛིན་གྱི་འདོད་སེམས་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་ནུས་པས་རྒྱས་འབྲིང་བསྡུས་གསུམ་ལས་
དེ་མ་བཤད་ཅིང་། བྱང་སེམས་དབང་རྟུལ་གྱིས་དེ་ལ་མ་ལྟོས་པར་དེ་མངོན་དུ་བྱེད་མི་ནུས་པས། ཁྲི་བརྒྱད་སྟོང་པར་དེ་བཤད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Since most sharp faculty bodhisattvas are able to manifest the Intermediary Desire Realm Mind without relying upon the Peak of Existence Small Retreat, this has not been explained in the Extensive, Middling, and Brief Mothers. Since dull faculty bodhisattvas are not able to manifest that without relying upon that, it is explained in the 18-Thousand.

སྲིད་རྩེའི་ནུད་ཆུང་བྱས་པའི་དོན་ཡང་།
ཡར་སོང་གི་འགོག་པ་ཐ་མ་ལས་ལངས་ཏེ་སྔར་དེ་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་སྙོམས་པར་འཇུག་པའི་སྲིད་རྩེའི་དངོས་གཞི་ལ་དམིགས་ཏེ་སྙོམས་པར་འཇུག་པ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Moreover, the meaning of manifesting the Peak of Existence Small Retreat is that having arisen from the final cessation going up, one enters absorption that is observing the just previously entered actual Peak of Existence.
