Mara of the afflictions

བདུད་བཞིའི་ནང་ཚན་གང་ཞིག གཙོ་བོར་ཐར་པ་ཐོབ་པ་ལ་བར་དུ་གཅོད་བྱེད་ཀྱི་སྒྲིབ་པའི་རིགས་སུ་གནས་པ། ཉོན་མོངས་པའི་བདུད་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of the mara of afflictions: That which is:

1. A subdivision of the four maras; and
2. Abiding in the class of obscurations that mainly hinder the attainment of liberation

Divisions: ཕྲ་རགས་གཉིས་ལས།

1. Subtle: the seeds of the afflictive obscurations ཉོན་སྒྲིབ་ཀྱི་ས་བོན་ལྟ་བུ།
   (Panchen: the level of the imprints of ignorance མ་རིག་བག་ཆགས་ཀྱི་ས་ལྟ་བུ། i.e. knowledge obscurations)
2. Coarse: the six root afflictions and twenty secondary afflictions རྩ་ཉོན་དྲུག ཉེ་ཉོན་ཉི་ཤུ་ལྟ་བུ།
