One final vehicle
མཐར་ཐུག་ཐེག་པ་གསུམ་དུ་གསུངས་པ་སྒྲ་ཇི་བཞིན་པ་མ་ཡིན་ཏེ། མཐར་ཐུག་ཐེག་པ་གཅིག་ཏུ་གྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ། དེ་ལྟར་ལུང་གིས་ཀྱང་གྲུབ།
རིགས་པས་ཀྱང་གྲུབ་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The Madhyamikas assert: Statements regarding three final vehicles are not literal because one final vehicle is established; because 1) this is established by scriptures and 2) it is also established by reasoning.
Scriptures:
ལྷག་མེད་མྱང་འདས་ལ་གནས་པའི་ཐེག་དམན་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ཐེག་ཆེན་ལམ་དུ་འཇུག་པར་མདོ་སྡེ་དུ་མ་ལས་གསུངས་པའི་ཕྱིར་ཏེ།
དེ་ཡང་ལྷག་བཅས་མྱང་འདས་ལ་གནས་པའི་ཉན་ཐོས་དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་དེས་སྐུ་ཚེའི་འདུ་བྱེད་འཕོ་ཀར་ཟག་བཅས་ཀྱི་ལུས་འདིར་བོར་ནས་དག་པའི་ཞིང་དུ་
པདྨའི་སྦུབས་སུ་ཡིད་ཀྱི་རང་བཞིན་གྱི་ལུས་བླངས་ལ། ཁྱབ་པ་འདུ་བྱེད་ཀྱི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཉེ་བར་ཞི་བའི་ཉེར་ཞི་ལ་སླར་མི་ལྡང་བར་མཉམ་པར་གཞག་པར་བྱའོ་སྙམ་དུ་འཕེན་པ་བཏང་བ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་དེར་སྐྱེས་མ་ཐག་ཏུ་དེ་ལ་མཉམ་པར་འཇུག་པ་ཡིན།
Many sutras indicate that Hinayana Arhats abiding in Nirvana without remainder enter the Mahayana path.
Also, Hinayana Arhats abiding in Nirvana with remainder give up their contaminated body upon transferring from that life and take a mental body from a lotus in a pure-land; then thinking, "I will enter equipoise into complete pacification that is the pacification of pervasive compounded suffering and not arise again!", they enter equipoise into that immediately upon birth there.
དེ་ལྟར་ཟག་མེད་ཀྱི་དབྱིངས་ལ་སྙོམས་པར་ཞུགས་ཏེ་གནས་པ་དེ་དག་ལ་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱི་འོད་ཟེར་གྱིས་བསྐུལ་ཏེ་རྗེས་ཐོབ་ཏུ་བཞེངས་ནས་
རྒྱལ་བ་རྣམས་ལས་དམ་པའི་ཆོས་གསན་ཏེ་ཚོགས་གཉིས་རྒྱ་ཆེན་པོ་གསོག་པར་འགྱུར།
Having entered and abided absorption on the uncontaminated sphere in that way, they will be motivated by the light of the Tathagatas, arise into subsequent attainment, listen to the holy dharma from the Conquerors, and will accumulate the vast two collections.
Reasoning:
མཐར་ཐུག་ཐེག་པ་གཅིག་ཏུ་རིགས་པས་གྲུབ་སྟེ། སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་སྒྲིབ་པ་དེ་སེམས་རྒྱུད་དང་འབྲལ་རུང་གི་གློ་བུར་བ་ཡིན་ཞིང༌།
དེ་སྤོང་བའི་ཐབས་སྟོན་པའི་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་མཛད་པ་མི་འདོར་བའི་ཕྱིར།
One final vehicle is established by reasoning because the obscurations in the continuum of all sentient beings are adventitious, i.e. suitable to be separated from their mental continuum, and because the Buddhas never stop teaching the methods for abandoning those.
Scriptures indicating three final vehicle are of interpretative meaning because there is:
- Intention: such statements because the intention is that it is necessary to lead those who, temporarily, have the three different dispositions and three different lineages to paths of the respective vehicles.
གནས་སྐབས་སུ་མོས་པ་མི་འདྲ་བ་གསུམ་དང་ཁམས་མི་འདྲ་བ་གསུམ་ཐེག་པ་སོ་སོའི་ལམ་དུ་དཀྲི་དགོས་པ་ལ་དགོངས་པའི་ཕྱིར། - Purpose: in order to take care of disciples that must be led to the Mahayana path without negating duality and true establishment.
གཉིས་སྟོང་བདེན་གྲུབ་མ་བཀག་པར་ཐེག་ཆེན་ལམ་དུ་འཁྲིད་དགོས་པའི་གདུལ་བྱ་རྣམས་རྗེས་སུ་བཟུང་བར་བྱ་བའི་ཆེད་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར། - There is harm to the actual meaning because other-powered natures and thoroughly-established natures are not truly established and because it is refuted by valid sutras indicating one final vehicle.
གཞན་དབང་དང་ཡོངས་གྲུབ་བདེན་པར་མ་གྲུབ་ཅིང་མཐར་ཐུག་ཐེག་པ་གཅིག་ཏུ་གྲུབ་པར་སྟོན་པའི་མདོ་ཚད་ལྡན་གྱིས་གནོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
