Paths of happily abiding in this life

རྣམ་ཐར་ཐོབ་ཟིན་པའི་གང་ཟག་གི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་རགས་པའི་ཉོན་མོངས་པས་མ་བསླད་པའི་མཁྱེན་པ། མཐོང་ཆོས་ལ་བདེར་གནས་ཀྱི་ལམ་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: An exalted knower that is unpolluted by coarse afflictions in the continuum of a person who has already attained a liberation.

Divisions:

1. Liberation of limitless space ནམ་མཁའ་མཐས་ཡས་ཀྱི་རྣམ་ཐར།
2. Liberation of limitless consciousness རྣམ་ཤས་མཐའ་ཡས་ཀྱ་རྣམ་ཐར།
3. Liberation of nothingness ཅིང་ཡང་མེད་ཀྱི་རྣམ་ཐར།
4. Liberation of the peak of existence སྲིད་རྩིའི་རྣམ་ཐར།
5. Liberation of cessation འགོག་པའི་རྣམ་ཐར།

These five together with the three of the previous category are collectively called the Eight liberations.

བྱང་སེམས་འཕགས་པས་འདི་ལ་སྙོམས་པར་ཞུགས་པ་ཆོས་ཅན། དགོས་པ་ཡོད་དེ།
རང་ཉིད་མཐོང་ཆོས་ལ་བདེ་བར་གནས་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་གཞན་སྨིན་གྲོལ་ལ་འགོད་པའི་དགོས་པ་ཡོད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The subject - Arya Bodhisattvas entering equipoise into these - there is a purpose: setting others in liberation by way of oneself happily abiding in this life.

འགོག་སྙོམས་དང་འགོག་པའི་རྣམ་ཐར་དོན་མི་གཅིག་སྟེ། རྣམ་བཤད་ལས། རྣམ་པར་ཐར་པ་བརྒྱད་ནི་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་འཕགས་པ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་འདས་ལམ་གྱི་ངོ་བོར་སྐྱེད་ནུས་པ་དང༌། འགོག་སྙོམས་འདས་ལམ་གྱི་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས་ཐོབ་པས་འཇིག་རྟེན་ལས་འདས་པའི་ལམ་དུ་བཤད་པས་སོ། །ཞེས་གསུངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
The absorption of cessation and liberation of cessation are not mutually inclusive: Gyaltsab:
The eight liberations can be generated in the entity of a supramundane path by Arya Bodhisattvas; whereas the absorption of cessation is attained through the force of a supramundane path and therefore is explained as being a supramundane path.
