Presentation of faculties-powers

Divisions: (22) དབང་པོ་ལ་དབྱེ་ན་ཉེར་གཉིས་སུ་ཡོད་དེ།

Fourteen of the thoroughly afflicted class ཀུན་ནས་ཉོན་མོངས་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་བཅུ་བཞི།
- Six Faculties of eyes and so forth མིག་སོགས་དབང་པོ་དྲུག
- Two Faculties of men and women ཕོ་མོའི་དབང་པོ་གཉིས།
- Life faculty སྲོག་གི་དབང་པོ།
- Faculties of pleasant feeling, mental happiness, suffering, mental unhappiness, and equanimity
  ཚོར་བ་བདེ་བ་དང་ཡིད་བདེ་བ་གཉིས། སྡུག་བསྔལ་དང་ཡིད་མི་བདེ་གཉིས། བཏང་སྙོམས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ།
  Faculties of the five feelings
Eight of the completely pure class རྣམ་བྱང་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་བརྒྱད།
- Powers of faith, joyous effort, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom (Five powers)
  དད་པ། བརྩོན་འགྲུས། དྲན་པ། ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན། ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ།
  Analysis of the powers
- Three uncontaminated faculties (ཟག་མེད་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་གསུམ།) / Three stainless faculties (དྲི་མེད་གསུམ།)
  - Faculty of knowing all that is unknown མི་ཤེས་པ་ཀུན་ཤེས་པར་བྱེད་པའི་དབང་པོ།
  - Faculty of knowing all ཀུན་ཤེས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ།
  - Faculty of possessing knowledge of all ཀུན་ཤེས་ལྡན་པའི་དབང་པོ།

དབང་པོ་ཐ་མ་གསུམ་པོ་འདི་མི་འགལ་ཏེ། མི་ཤེས་པ་ཀུན་ཤེས་པར་བྱེད་པའི་དབང་པོ་དང༌། ཀུན་ཤེས་ལྡན་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཡང་མི་འགལ།
ཀུན་ཤེས་ལྡན་པའི་དབང་པོ་དང་ཀུན་ཤེས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་ཡང་མི་འགལ་བའི་ཕྱིར། དང་པོ་གྲུབ་སྟེ། མཐོང་ལམ་དང་མི་སློབ་ལམ་མི་འགལ་བའི་ཕྱིར།
གཉིས་པ་གྲུབ་སྟེ། སྒོམ་ལམ་དང་མི་སློབ་ལམ་མི་འགལ་བའི་ཕྱིར།
The last three faculties are not mutually exclusive because:

The faculty of knowing all that is unknown and the faculty of possessing knowledge of all are not mutually exclusive, because the path of seeing and path of no more learning are not mutually exclusive
The faculty of possessing knowledge of all and the faculty of knowing all are not mutually excusive, because the path of meditation and path of no more learning are not mutually exclusive

Eleven of thoroughly afflicted class subsumed into: ཀུན་ནས་ཉོན་མོངས་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་བཅུ་གཅིག་པོ་དེ་བསྡུ་ན་བཞིར་འདུ་སྟེ།

Supports for entering the womb མངལ་དུ་འཇུག་པའི་རྟེན།
Births that are entered ཞུགས་པའི་སྐྱེ་བ།
Birth states སྐྱེས་པའི་གནས་པ།
Objects of utilisation of those states གནས་པའི་ལོངས་སྤྱོད།

Same for completely pure, substitute "engaging in the completely pure" for the first.

Thoroughly afflicted are definite in number as fourteen because:

In terms of the supports for entering samsara, the six sense-powers are presented
འཁོར་བར་འཇུག་པའི་རྟེན་གྱི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་མིག་སོགས་དབང་པོ་དྲུག་བཞག
In terms of the supports that are born there, the faculties of men and women
དེར་སྐྱེས་པའི་རྟེན་གྱི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་ཕོ་མོའི་དབང་པོ་དང༌།
In terms of abiding there, the life faculty དེར་གནས་པའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་སྲོག་གི་དབང་པོ་བཞག
In terms of the utilisation of happiness and suffering, the five faculties of feelings are presented
བདེ་སྡུག་ལ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་པའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་ཚོར་བའི་དབང་པོ་ལྔ་བཞག

Completely pure are definite in number as eight because:

In terms of engaging the completely pure, the five powers are presented
རྣམ་བྱང་ལ་འཇུག་བའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་དད་སོགས་དབང་པོ་ལྔ་བཞག
In terms of being born there, the faculty of knowing all that is unknown
དེར་སྐྱེས་པའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་མི་ཤེས་པ་ཀུན་ཤེས་པའི་དབང་པོ་དང༌།
In terms of abiding there, the faculty of knowing all
དེར་གནས་པའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་ཀུན་ཤེས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་དང༌།
In terms of the utilisation of the completely pure, the faculty of possessing knowledge of all is presented
རྣམ་བྱང་ལ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་པའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་ནས་ཀུན་ཤེས་ལྡན་པའི་དབང་པོ་བཞག

མཐོང་ལམ་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་དད་སོགས་དབང་པོ་ལྔ་ཡིད་ཚོར་བ་བདེ་བ་ཡིད་བདེ་བཏང་སྙོམས་ཏེ་དགུ་ལ། དབང་པོ་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ།
ཀུན་ཤེས་ཀྱི་དབང་པོ་ཐོབ་པ་དང༌། མཐོང་སྤང་སྤོང་བ་ལ་དབང་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Etymology for the five power and the mental sense-power, mental happiness, pleasant feeling, and neutral feeling (9) of that are paths of seeing: Due to empowering the attainment of the faculty of knowing all and the abandonment of the objects of abandonment of the path of seeing.

སྒོམ་ལམ་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་དེ་དགུ་ལ་དབང་པོ་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ། ཀུན་ཤེས་ལྡན་པའི་དབང་པོ་ཐོབ་པ་དང༌། སྒོམ་སྤང་སྤོང་བ་ལ་དབང་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Etymology for those nine that are paths of meditation: Due to empowering the attainment of the faculty of possessing knowledge of all and the abandonment of the objects of abandonment of the path of meditation.

མི་སློབ་ལམ་དུ་གྱུར་པའི་དེ་དགུ་ལ་དབང་པོ་ཞེས་བརྗོད་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ། ལྷག་མེད་མྱང་འདས་ཐོབ་པ་དང༌། མཐོང་ཆོས་བདེར་གནས་ལ་དབང་བྱེད་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Etymology for those nine that are paths of no more learning: Due to empowering the attainment of nirvana without remainder and happily abiding in the present life.

Division:

Definite faculties ངེས་ལྡན་གྱི་དབང་པོ།
If any one of the three (faculty of neutral feeling, life-faculty, and mental sense-power) are possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing all three.
Possible faculties སྲིད་ལྡན་གྱི་དབང་པོ།
- If either the faculty of pleasant feeling or the body sense-power are possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing that one plus the three definite faculties
- If any of the first four sense-powers are possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing that one plus the three definite faculties plus the body sense-power
- If the faculty of mental happiness is possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing that plus the three definite faculties plus the body sense-power
- If the faculty of suffering is possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing the three definite faculties, faculty of pleasant feeling, faculty of suffering, faculty of mental happiness, and the body sense-power
- If either the faculty of male and female or the faculty of mental unhappiness are possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing that one plus the above seven
- If either the faculty of knowing all or the faculty of possessing knowledge of all are possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing the nine that are the basis of imputation (five powers, mental sense-power, mental happiness, pleasant feeling, neutral feeling) plus life-faculty, plus the one possessed
- If the faculty of knowing all that is unknown is possessed, then one is pervaded by possessing the nine that are the basis of imputation, body sense-power, life-faculty, faculty of neutral feelings, and itself

Explanation of attaining and discarding the faculties-powers

Included in each realm:

Desire Realm: 19 excluding the stainless three
Form Realm: 15 excluding the stainless three, faculties of men and women, suffering feeling, and mental unhappiness

Up a level: Signs of irreversibility on the path of seeing / Perfection of Wisdom
