True cessations

རྣམ་བྱང་ཕྱོགས་ཀྱི་བདེན་པ་གང་ཞིག འགོག་པ་ཞི་བ་གྱ་ནོམ་ངེས་འབྱུང་བཞིས་ཁྱད་པར་དུ་བྱས་པའི་རབ་ཏུ་ཕྱེ་བ། འགོག་བདེན་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: That which is:

1. A truth of the completely pure class; and
2. Distinguished by being qualified by the four: cessation, pacification, excellence, and definite emergence.

Divisions:

1. Profound cessation ཟབ་པའི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. a true cessation in the continuum of a Mahayana Arya
2. Designated cessation བརྡའི་འགོག་པ། (not an actual cessation)
   e.g. an abandonment that temporarily abandons the manifest desire-realm afflictions by a mundane path
3. Ultimate cessation དོན་དམ་པའི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. a true cessation in the continuum of an Arya
4. Non-thoroughly complete cessation ཡོངས་སུ་མ་རྫོགས་པའི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. a true cessation in the continuum of a Hinayana Learner
5. Thoroughly complete cessation ཡོངས་སུ་རྫོགས་པའི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. a true cessation in the continuum of a Hinayana Arhat
6. Unornamented cessation རྒྱན་མེད་པའི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. nirvana with remainder that is liberated only from the perspective of wisdom
7. Ornamented cessation རྒྱན་དང་བཅས་པའི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. nirvana without remainder that is liberated from both aspects

8. Cessation with remainder ལྷག་བཅས་ཀྱི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. a true cessation of a Hearer Arhat abiding in nirvana with remainder that is liberated only from the perspective of wisdom
9. Cessation without remainder ལྷག་མེད་ཀྱི་འགོག་པ།
   e.g. a true cessation of a Hearer Arhat abiding in nirvana without remainder that is liberated from both aspects
10. Surpassing cessation ཁྱད་པར་དུ་འཕགས་པའི་འགོག་པ།
    e.g. non-abiding nirvana
