Elimination and determination

གཞི་དེ་ཆོས་དེ་ཡིན་པར་ཕར་རྣམ་པར་བཅད་ཅིང་མ་ཡིན་པར་རྟོགས་པ་དེ། རྣམ་བཅད་ཀྱི་དོན།
The meaning of elimination: In relation to a basis, eliminating away that it is an attribute and realising it is not that.

དཔེར་ན། གཞི་བུམ་པ་ལྟ་བུ་དེ་བློས་དངོས་སུ་མི་རྟག་པར་ཡིན་པར་རྟོགས་པ་ན། བློ་དེའི་ངོར་རྟག་པ་ཡིན་པ་ཕར་རྣམ་པར་བཅད་པ་ལྟ་བུའོ།
For example, the basis pot: when an awareness explicitly realises that it is impermanent, then in the perspective of that awareness it is eliminated away as being permanent.

གཞི་དེ་ཆོས་དེ་ཡིན་པར་ཡོངས་སུ་གཅོད་པ་སྟེ་ཚུར་སྒྲུབ་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་རྟོགས་པའམ་དགག་བྱ་བཀག་པའི་ཤུལ་དུ་ཆོས་གཞན་སྒྲུབ་པ། ཡོངས་གཅོད་ཀྱི་དོན།
The meaning of determination: Realisation by way of determining, i.e. establishing towards, that a basis is an attribute. Or implicitly establishing a different attribute upon refuting an object of negation.

དཔེར་ན། གཞི་བུམ་པ་ལྟ་བུ་དེ་བློས་རྟག་པ་ཡིན་པ་ཕར་རྣམ་པར་བཅད་པའམ་རྟག་པ་མ་ཡིན་པར་ངེས་པའི་སྟོབས་ཀྱིས།
དེ་མི་རྟག་པ་ཡིན་པ་ཚུར་ཡོངས་སུ་གཅོད་པའམ་གྲུབ་པ་ལྟ་བུ།
For example, the basis pot: Through the force of an awareness eliminating away that it is permanent or ascertaining that it is not permanent, it is determined or established towards being impermanent.

ཡང་དཔེར་ན། ཐག་ཁྲ་སྦྲུལ་འཛིན་ལ་མཚོན་ན། ཐག་ཁྲ་སྦྲུལ་ཡིན་པ་བཀག་པ་རྣམ་བཅད། ཐག་ཁྲ་ཐག་ཁྲར་སྒྲུབ་པ་ཡོངས་གཅོད་དོ།
Anther example, apprehending a mottled rope as a snake:

• Elimination is refuting that the mottled rope is a snake;
• Determination is establishing that the mottles rope is a mottled rope.
