Other-exclusions that are non-implicative negations

གཞན་སེལ་ཡང་ཡིན། རང་གི་དགག་བྱ་བཀག་ཤུལ་དུ་འཕངས་པའི་སྒྲུབ་པ་མེད་པ་ཡང་ཡིན་པའི་གཞི་མཐུན་པ། མེད་དགག་གི་གཞན་སེལ་གྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: The common locus of:

1. Being an other-exclusion; and
2. Lacking a positive phenomenon that is conveyed upon the negation of its object of negation

Divisions:

1. Where the object of negation is possible among objects of knowledge
   དགག་བྱ་ཤེས་བྱ་ལ་སྲིད་པའི་མེད་དགག་གི་གཞན་སེལ།
   e.g. non-existence of pot བུམ་མེད་ལྟ་བུ།
2. Where the object of negation is impossible among objects of knowledge
   དགག་བྱ་ཤེས་བྱ་ལ་མི་སྲིད་པའི་མེད་དགག་གི་གཞན་སེལ།
   e.g. non-existence of rabbit-horns རི་བོང་རྭ་མེད་ལྟ་བུ།

དེ་བཞིན་དུ་རྟགས་ཡང་དག་མ་ཡིན་པ་ལས་ལོག་པ་དེ་ཡང་དང་པོའི་མཚན་གཞི་ཡིན་ནོ།
Similarly, also the opposite of non-(correct sign) is an illustration of the first.

According to Gyaltsab Je, in Sakyapaṇḍita’s Treasury of Reasoning these are referred to as:

1. Other-exclusions of existents ཡོད་པ་གཞན་སེལ།
2. Other-exclusions of non-existents མེད་པ་གཞན་སེལ།
