Conceptual consciousness taking a meaning generality as its apprehended object
སྒྲ་དོན་འདྲེས་རུང་དུ་འཛིན་པའི་ཞེན་རིག རྟོག་པའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A determinative knower apprehending sound and meaning [generalities] as suitable to be mixed.
This and conceptual consciousness are mutually inclusive.
རུང་བ་སྨོས་པ་ལ་དགོས་པ་ཡོད་དེ། བརྡ་ལ་མ་བྱང་པའི་སྐྱེས་བུའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་རྟོག་པ་བསྡུ་པའི་ཆེད་དུ་ཡིན།
དེའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་རྟོག་པ་དེས་སྒྲ་དོན་འདྲེས་པར་མི་འཛིན་ཀྱང་། སྒྲ་དོན་འདྲེས་རུང་དུ་འཛིན་པ་ཙམ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།
There is a purpose for saying "suitable": it is in order to include conceptual consciousnesses in the continuum of a person who doesn't know language; the conceptual consciousnesses in their continuum do not apprehend sound and meaning [generalities] as mixed, but just as suitable to be mixed.
Divisions:
- Conceptual consciousness apprehending only a sound generality སྒྲ་སྤྱི་ཁོ་ན་འཛིན་པའི་རྟོག་པ།
e.g. Conceptual consciousness apprehending a pot, produced in dependence upon merely the word "pot", in the continuum of someone who doesn't know that a pot is a round-bellied flat-bottomed thing able to perform the function of holding water.
ལྟོ་ལྡིར་ཞབས་ཞུམ་ཆུ་སྐྱོར་གྱི་དོན་བྱེད་ནུས་པ་བུམ་པ་ཡིན་པར་མི་ཤེས་པའི་སྐྱེས་བུའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་བུམ་པ་ཞེས་པའི་སྒྲ་ཙམ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྐྱེས་པའི་བུམ་འཛིན་རྟོག་པ།
Here, the appearance appearing as pot is just the sound generality. - Conceptual consciousness apprehending only a meaning generality དོན་སྤྱི་ཁོ་ན་འཛིན་པའི་རྟོག་པ།
e.g. Conceptual consciousness apprehending a flat-bellied thing, produced in dependence upon merely seeing a flat-bellied thing, in their continuum.
དེའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་ལྟོ་ལྡིར་བ་མཐོང་བ་ཙམ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྐྱེས་པའི་ལྟོ་ལྡིར་བ་འཛིན་པའི་རྟོག་པ།
Here, the appearance appearing as a flat-bellied thing is just the meaning generality. - Conceptual consciousness apprehending both སྒྲ་དོན་གཉིས་ཀ་འཛིན་པའི་རྟོག་པ།
e.g. Conceptual consciousness apprehending pot in the continuum of someone who knows pot.
བུམ་པ་ཤེས་པའི་སྐྱེས་བུའི་རྒྱུད་ཀྱི་བུམ་འཛིན་རྟོག་པ།
Here, when either pot or flat-bellied thing appear, the sound and meaning generalities both appear.
Division:
- Conceptual consciousness affixing terms མིང་སྦྱོར་རྟོག་པ།
- Conceptual consciousness affixing meaning དོན་སྦྱོར་རྟོག་པ།
A conceptual consciousness thinking "This flat-bellied thing is a pot" is both.
Division:
- Factually concordant conceptual consciousness རྟོག་པ་དོན་མཐུན།
If it is an established base, the conceptual consciousness apprehending it is pervaded by being a factually concordant conceptual consciousness.
གཞི་གྲུབ་ན། ཁྱོད་འཛིན་པའི་རྟོག་པ་རྟོག་པ་དོན་མཐུན་ཡིན་པས་ཁྱབ། - Factually discordant conceptual consciousness རྟོག་པ་དོན་མི་མཐུན།
If it is an established base, the conceptual consciousness apprehending it is pervaded by being a factually discordant conceptual consciousness.
གཞི་མ་གྲུབ་ན། ཁྱོད་འཛིན་རྟོག་པ་རྟོག་པ་དོན་མི་མཐུན་ཡིན་པས་ཁྱབ་བོ།
རྟོག་པ་ཡིན་ན། སེལ་འཇུག་ཡིན་པས་ཁྱབ།
If it is a conceptual consciousness, it is pervaded by being an eliminative engager.
It is mutually inclusive with awareness eliminative engager.
