Valid cognisers

གསར་དུ་མི་སླུ་བའི་རིག་པ། ཚད་མའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A new non-deceptive knower.

ཚད་མའི་མཚན་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཟུར་དུ་གསར་དུ་དང་མི་སླུ་བ་དང་རིག་པ་ཞེས་གསུམ་སྨོས་པ་ལ་དགོས་པ་ཡོད་དེ།
There is a purpose in all three parts of the definition:

"New" eliminates subsequent cognisers from being valid cognisers
གསར་དུ་ཞེས་པས་དཔྱད་ཤེས་ཚད་མ་ཡིན་པ་གཅོད།
"Non-deceptive" eliminates correct assumptions from being valid cognisers
མི་སླུ་བ་ཞེས་པས་ཡིད་དཔྱོད་ཚད་མ་ཡིན་པ་གཅོད།
"Knower" eliminates the physical sense-powers from being valid cognisers.
རིག་པ་ཞེས་པས་དབང་པོ་གཟུགས་ཅན་པ་ཚད་མ་ཡིན་པ་གཅོད་པ་ཡིན་པའི་ཕྱིར།

Divisions:

Direct valid cognisers མངོན་སུམ་གྱི་ཚད་མ།
Inferential valid cognisers རྗེས་སུ་དཔག་པའི་ཚད་མ།

Terminological division:

Valid being སྐྱེས་བུ་ཚད་མ།
e.g. the Teacher Buddha
Valid speech ངག་ཚད་མ།
e.g. the Dharma Wheel of the Four Truths
Valid consciousness ཤེས་པ་ཚད་མ།
e.g. direct and inferential

ཚད་མ་ལ་དེ་གཉིས་སུ་གྲངས་ངེས་ཏེ། གཞལ་བྱ་ལ་རང་མཚན་དང་སྤྱི་མཚན་གཉིས་སུ་གྲངས་པའི་ཕྱིར།
Valid cognisers are definite in number as those two because objects of comprehension are definite in number as the two: generally and specifically characterised phenomena.
