Main mind

རང་ཡུལ་གྱི་ངོ་བོ་འཛིན་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་བཞག་པའི་གཙོ་བོའི་རྣམ་རིག་དེ། གཙོ་སེམས་ཀྱི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition: A main knower posited by way of apprehending the entity of its object.

གཙོ་སེམས་དང་། སེམས་དང་། ཡིད་དང་། རྣམ་ཤེས་རྣམས་དོན་གཅིག་མིང་གི་རྣམ་གྲངས་སོ།
Main mind, mind, mentality, and consciousness are synonymous.

ངོ་བོའི་སྒོ་ནས་དབྱེ་ན། མིག་གི་རྣམ་ཤེས་ནས་ཡིད་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པར་ཤེས་པའི་བར་དྲུག་སྟེ། བསྡུ་ན་དབང་པོའི་རྣམ་ཤེས་དང་། ཡིད་ཀྱི་རྣམ་ཤེས་གཉིས་སུ་འདུའོ།
Divided by way of entity there are six: from eye consciousness and up to mental consciousness; in brief, they are included within the two: sense consciousness and mental consciousness.

There are four possibilities between mentality and mental consciousness:

• Eye consciousness is mentality but not a mental consciousness
• Feeling in the retinue of a mental consciousness is a mental consciousness but not mentality.
