Discussion regarding the three lower tantras

The need for siddhis and enhancing wisdom

རྒྱུད་སྡེ་འོག་མ་གསུམ་གྱིས་མཆོག་འགྲུབ་པ་ནི་སྔོན་དུ་འཇིག་རྟེན་པའི་དངོས་གྲུབ་གྲུབ་པ་ལ་རག་ལས་པ་ཡིན་ལ།
བླ་མེད་ལྟར་ན་དེ་ལ་རག་མ་ལས་པར་བསྐྱེད་རྫོགས་བར་མ་ཆར་པར་བསྒོམ་པས་མཆོག་འགྲུབ་ཏུ་རུང་།
The supreme accomplishment using the three lower tantras depends upon first accomplishing the worldly siddhis. In HYT, without depending on that, the supreme accomplishment can be [attained] through the uninterrupted cultivation of the generation and completion stages.

There is a reason for this: རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཡོད་དེ།

• The factor of method enhancing the wisdom realising emptiness is the system of both Mahayanas.
  ཐབས་ཀྱི་ཆ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་སྟོང་ཉིད་རྟོགས་པའི་ཤེས་རབ་ཁྱད་ཞུགས་པར་བྱེད་པ་ནི་ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོ་གཉིས་ཀའི་ལུགས་ཡིན་ལ།
• In the Perfection Vehicle, it is through training in the limitless subdivisions of generosity and so forth for limitless time that the wisdom realising emptiness is made to possess the ability to abandon the knowledge obscurations.
  ཕར་ཕྱིན་ཐེག་པ་ལྟར་ན་སྦྱིན་སོགས་ཀྱི་གསལ་བའི་དབྱེ་བ་མཐའ་ཡས་པ་ལ་དུས་མཐའ་ཡས་པར་སློབ་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་
  སྟོང་ཉིད་རྟོགས་པའི་ཤེས་རབ་དེ་ཤེས་སྒྲིབ་སྤོང་བའི་ནུས་ལྡན་དུ་བྱེད་ལ།
• In HYT, the realisation of emptiness is enhanced in dependence upon the meeting of the two bodhicittas through taking the attachment from the union of the two organs into the path.
  སྔགས་བླ་མེད་ལྟར་ན་དབང་པོ་གཉིས་སྦྱོར་གྱི་ཆགས་པ་ལམ་དུ་བྱས་པས་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཀྱི་སེམས་གཉིས་ཀྱི་འཕྲོད་འདུའི་གནད་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་སྟོང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་རྟོགས་པ་ཁྱད་ཞུགས་པར་འགྱུར་ཡང་།
• However, in the three lower tantras: རྒྱུད་སྡེ་འོག་མ་གསུམ་ལས་ནི་
  • There is no mention of training in the limitless subdivisions of generosity and so forth for limitless time like in the Perfection Vehicle, and
    ཕར་ཕྱིན་ཐེག་པ་ལྟར་སྦྱིན་སོགས་ཀྱི་གསལ་བའི་དབྱེ་བ་མཐའ་ཡས་པ་དུས་མཐའ་ཡས་པར་སློབ་པར་ཡང་མ་གསུངས་ཤིང་།
  • There is also no mention of a way of generating a special object-possessor realising emptiness like in HYT,
    སྔགས་བླ་མེད་ལྟར་སྟོང་ཉིད་རྟོགས་པའི་ཡུལ་ཅན་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་སྐྱེད་ཚུལ་ཡང་མ་གསུངས་པས།
• Therefore, the realisation of emptiness must be enhanced by skilful means such as many common siddhis, being blessed and directly taken care of by Buddhas and Higher Bodhisattvas, and so forth.
  ཐུན་མོང་གི་དངོས་གྲུབ་མང་པོ་དང་སངས་རྒྱས་དང་བྱང་སེམས་གོང་མ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་དངོས་སུ་རྗེས་བཟུང་ནས་བྱིན་གྱིས་རློབ་པ་ལ་སོགས་པའི་ཐབས་མཁས་ཀྱིས་སྟོང་ཉིད་རྟོགས་པ་ཁྱད་ཞུགས་པར་འགྱུར་དགོས་པའི་ཕྱིར་རོ།

Relative speed of the tantras

The three lower tantras are only quicker relative to the Perfection Vehicle; due to attaining siddhis and/or lengthening one's lifetime. Attaining enlightenment in one body one life is only in HYT. Also, all disciples will eventually enter HYT.
