The Four Empowerments

The Five Knowledge Empowerments: རིག་པའི་དབང་ལྔ་།

1. Water: to extinguish the fire of anger ཞེ་སྡང་མེ་གསོད་ཆུ་ཡི་དབང་།
2. Crown: to demolish the mountain of pride ང་རྒྱལ་རི་བསྙིལ་དབུ་རྒྱན་དབང་།
3. Vajra: to destroy the poison of attachment འདོད་ཆགས་དུག་འཇོམས་རྡོ་རྗེའི་དབང་།
4. Bell: to release the chains of jealousy ཕྲག་དོག་ལྕགས་སྒྲོལ་དྲིལ་བུའི་དབང་།
5. Name: to clear away the darkness of ignorance གཏི་མུག་མུན་སེལ་མིང་གི་དབང་།

In Kalachakra there are sixteen empowerments: དུས་འཁོར་གྱི་རྒྱུད་ལ་བཅུ་དྲུག་ཡོད་དེ།

• The seven empowerments of entering like a child བྱིས་པ་ལྟར་འཇུག་པའི་དབང་བདུན།
• The four high empowerments གོང་མ་བཞི།
• The four greatly high empowerments གོང་ཆེན་བཞི།
• The empowerment of the great lord vajra-master རྡོ་རྗེ་སློབ་དཔོན་བདག་པོ་ཆེན་པོའི་དབང་།
