དགེ་སློང་དག་གམ་མཁས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས། བསྲེགས་བཅད་བརྡར་བའི་གསེར་བཞིན་དུ།
ལེགས་པར་བརྟགས་ལ་ང་ཡི་བཀའ། བླང་བར་བྱ་ཡི་གུས་ཕྱིར་མིན།
Just like gold is burned, cut, and rubbed,
Monastics and scholars should adopt my word
Upon proper analysis,
Not out of respect [for me].
ཐུབ་རྣམས་སྡིག་པ་ཆུ་ཡིས་མི་འཀྲུ་ཞིང་། འགྲོ་བའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་ཕྱག་གིས་མི་སེལ་ལ།
ཉིད་ཀྱི་རྟོགས་པ་གཞན་ལ་སྤོ་མིན་པས། ཆོས་ཉིད་བདེན་པ་བསྟན་པས་གྲོལ་བར་མཛད།
The Munis do not wash away negativities with water,
Or clear away migrators' sufferings with their hands,
They do not transfer their realisations to others;
They liberate through teaching the truth of reality.
འཕགས་པ་རྒྱ་ཆེར་རོལ་པ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་མདོ།
ཟབ་ཞི་སྤྲོས་བྲལ་འོད་གསལ་འདུས་མ་བྱས། བདུད་རྩི་ལྟ་བུའི་ཆོས་ཤིག་བདག་གིས་བརྙེས།
སུ་ལ་བསྟན་ཀྱང་གོ་བར་མི་འགྱུར་བས། མི་སྨྲ་ནགས་འདབ་ཉིད་དུ་གནས་པར་བྱ།
Lalitavistara Sutra:
Profound, peaceful, free from elaborations, clear-light, uncompounded –
I have found a nectar-like Dharma.
However, were I to teach it who would understand?
Therefore, I will remain silent in the forest.
སྐྱེས་རབས་ལས།
ཐོས་པ་གཏི་མུག་མུན་སེལ་སྒྲོན་མེ་ཡིན། རྐུན་པོ་ལ་སོགས་མི་འཁྱེར་ནོར་གྱི་མཆོག
ཀུན་ཏུ་རྨོངས་པའི་དགྲ་འཇོམས་མཚོན་ཆ་ཡིན། ཐབས་ཚུལ་མན་ངག་སྟོན་པའི་གྲོགས་ཀྱི་མཆོག
ཕོངས་པར་གྱུར་ཀྱང་མི་འགྱུར་མཛའ་བོ་ཡིན། གནོད་པ་མེད་པ་མྱ་ངན་ནད་ཀྱི་སྨན།
ཉེས་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་དཔུང་འཇོམས་དཔུང་གི་མཆོགགྲགས་དང་དཔལ་དང་གཏེར་གྱི་མཆོག་ཀྱང་ཡིན།
From the Jataka Tales:
Listening is the lamp that clears the darkness of ignorance;
It is the supreme treasure that cannot be taken by thieves and so forth;
It is the weapon that destroys the enemy of obscuration;
It is the supreme friend that instructs on the method;
It is a constant friend, even when destitute;
It is the medicine for the sickness of suffering, without harmful [side-effects];
It is the supreme army that destroys the army of great negativities;
As well as being the supreme fame, glory and riches.
དཀོན་མཆོག་ཏ་ལ་ལའི་མདོ་ལས།
དད་པ་སྔོན་འདྲེན་མ་ལྟར་སྐྱེད་པ་སྟེ། ཡོན་ཏན་ཐམས་ཅད་སྲུང་ཞིང་འཕེལ་བར་བྱེད།
From the Jewel Lamp Sutra:
Generate the mother-like preliminary of faith;
Which protects and increases all good qualities.
རྒྱལ་པོ་སྡོང་པོས་ཞུས་པའི་མདོ་ལས།
མ་ནི་ཤེས་རབ་ཕ་ནི་ཐབས།
From the ārya-druma-kiṃnararāja-paripṛcchā Mahayana Sutra:
Mother is wisdom; Father is method.
ལྗོན་པ་རྟ་མགོ་ཅན་གྱིས་ཞུས་པའི་མདོ་ལས།
ཕ་ནི་ཐབས་ལ་མཁས་སྟེ། མ་ནི་ཤེས་རབ་ཕ་རོལ་ཕྱིན།
From the ārya-vimalakīrti-nirdeśa-nāma Mahayana Sutra:
Mother is wisdom gone beyond;
Father is skilled in means.
པདྨ་དཀར་པོ་ལས།
འཁོར་བའི་སྡུག་བསྔལ་དག་ལས་ཁྱོད་ཐར་ཡང༌། ཁྱོད་ནི་ད་དུང་མྱ་ངན་ཡོངས་མི་འདའ།
སངས་རྒྱས་ཐེག་པ་འདི་ནི་བཙལ་བར་གྱིས།
From the White Lotus of Excellent Dharma Sutra:
Though you are liberated from the sufferings of samsara,
You have not yet passed beyond sorrow;
Seek the Buddha vehicle.
དྲང་སྲོང་ཆེན་པོས་ཐེག་པ་གསུམ་བསྟན་པ། རྣམ་འདྲེན་རྣམས་ཀྱི་ཐབས་ལ་མཁས་པ་སྟེ།
ཐེག་པ་གཅིག་སྟེ་གཉིས་སུ་ཡོད་མ་ཡིན། བསྟི་བའི་དོན་དུ་ཐེག་པ་གཉིས་བསྟན་ཏོ།
The Great Sage teaching the three vehicles
Is skilful means in guiding.
There is one vehicle, not two;
He taught two vehicles in order to [give] rest.
ཡབ་སྲས་མཇལ་བའི་མདོ་ལས།
འདི་ལྟར། དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པས་ཀུན་རྫོབ་དང་དོན་དམ་པའི་བདེན་པ་གཉིས་ཐུགས་སུ་ཆུད་དེ་ཤེས་པར་བྱ་བ་ཡང་ཀུན་རྫོབ་དང་དོན་དམ་པའི་
བདེན་པ་དེ་གཉིས་སུ་ཟད་དོ།
The Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son:
In this way, the Tathagatas realise the two truths: conventional and ultimate. Moreover, objects of knowledge are subsumed into the two: conventional and ultimate truths.
མྱང་འདས་ཀྱི་མདོ་ལས།
གང་ཞིག་གསུམ་ལ་སྐྱབས་འགྲོ་བ། དེ་ནི་ཡང་དག་དགེ་བསྙེན་ཏེ།
ནམ་དུའང་ལྷ་ནི་གཞན་དག་ལ། སྐྱབས་སུ་སོང་བ་མ་ཡིན་ནོ།
དམ་པའི་ཆོས་ལ་སྐྱབས་འགྲོ་བ། འཚེ་ཞིང་གསོད་པའི་སེམས་དང་བྲལ།
དགེ་འདུན་ལ་ཡང་སྐྱབས་འགྲོ་བ། མུ་སྟེགས་ཅན་དང་འགྲོགས་མི་བྱ།
The Mahaparinirvana Sutra:
One who has gone for refuge in the three
Is a true approacher to virtue,
Never going for refuge in
Others, such as gods.
One who goes for refuge in the holy Dharma
Is free of thoughts of harming and killing.
One who goes for refuge in the Sangha
Does not associate with non-Buddhists.
སྐུལ་བྱེད་ཀྱི་མདོ་ལས།
The Sutra Requested by Cunda:
ཀུན་དགའ་ར་བ་གཙུག་ལག་ཁང་། མལ་སྟན་འཚོ་བ་ནར་མ་དང་།
བློ་བུར་ནད་པ་ནད་གཡོག་དང་། ཡུལ་ངན་བྱུང་ཚེ་སྦྱིན་པ་ནི།
རྫས་ལས་བྱུང་བའི་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན།
[Giving] pleasure groves, temples,
Bedding and cushions, livelihood for the Sangha,
Nurses for those suddenly sick, and
Giving to those in hard times;
Are the seven merits arising from substance.
བཞུགས་དང་གཤེགས་རྩོམ་ལམ་ཞུགས་དང་། ཕྱིན་པ་ཐོས་དང་མཐོང་བ་དང་།
ཆོས་ཐོས་བསླབ་པའི་གཞི་འཛིན་ལ། དགའ་དང་དད་པ་སྐྱེས་པ་ནི།
རྫས་ལ་མ་ལྟོས་བསོད་ནམས་བདུན།
[In terms of the Buddha,] giving rise to joy and faith
In his abiding, departing, on the path, and having gone,
As well as in those who listen to and see [the Buddha,]
Listen to the Dharma, and uphold the basis of the trainings;
These are the seven merits not relying upon a substance.
འཕགས་པ་ལང་ཀར་གཤེགས་པའི་ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་མདོ་ལས།
ཇི་ལྟར་ནད་པ་སོ་སོ་ལ། སྨན་པ་སྨན་རྣམས་གཏོང་བ་ལྟར།
སངས་རྒྱས་དེ་བཞིན་སེམས་ཅན་ལ། སེམས་ཙམ་དུའང་རབ་ཏུ་གསུང༌།
From the Lankavatara Sutra:
Just like a doctor gives medicine
To specific patients,
The Buddha taught Mind Only
To sentient beings.
བློ་གྲོས་མི་ཟད་པའི་མདོ་ལས།
གང་ཟག་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ཆོས་ལ་རྟོན། ཚིག་ལ་མི་རྟོན་དོན་ལ་རྟོན།
དྲང་དོན་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ངེས་དོན་ལ་རྟོན། རྣམ་ཤེས་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལ་རྟོན།
From the Teaching of Akṣayamati Sutra:
Do no rely on the person, rely on the Dharma.
Do no rely on the words, rely upon the meaning.
Do no rely on the interpretative meaning, rely upon the definitive meaning.
Do not rely on consciousness, rely upon exalted wisdom.
ཆོས་བཅུ་པའི་མདོ་ལས།
དུ་བ་ལས་ནི་མེར་ཤེས་དང། །ཆུ་སྐྱར་ལས་ནི་ཆུར་ཤེས་ལྟར།
བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའ་བློ་ལྡན་གྱི། །རིགས་ནི་མཚན་མ་དག་ལས་ཤེས།
Sutra of the Ten Dharmas says:
Just like knowing fire from smoke
And water from water-fowl,
The intelligent bodhisattva’s lineage
Is known through the signs.
སྨྲ་བསམ་བརྗོད་མེད་ཤེས་རབ་ཕ་རོལ་ཕྱིན། །
མ་སྐྱེས་མི་འགག་ནམ་མཁའི་ངོ་བོ་ཉིད། །
སོ་སོར་རང་རིག་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྤྱོད་ཡུལ་བ། །
དུས་གསུམ་རྒྱལ་བའི་ཡུམ་ལ་ཕྱག་འཚལ་ལོ།།
Praise to Perfection of Wisdom:
The perfection of wisdom inexpressible through speech or thought,
Unproduced, unceased, the very nature of space,
The object of individual self-knowing exalted wisdom,
I prostrate to the Mother of the three time Conquerors.
