Restrictive particles
སྦྱོར་ཚུལ་གྱི་དབང་གིས་གཞི་གང་ལ་ཆོས་གང་མི་ལྡན་པའམ། གཞན་ལ་ལྡན་པ་རྣམ་པར་གཅོད་པའི་སྒྲ། ངེས་གཟུང་གི་སྒྲའམ་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲ།
Meaning: A particle that, in terms of how it is affixed, excludes a basis not possessing an attribute or that it is possessed by other [basis].
Illustrations: Only (ཁོ་ན།), itself (ཉིད།), mere (ཙམ།)
Divisions:
- Particle excluding non-possession མི་ལྡན་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲ།
- Particle excluding other-possession གཞན་ལྡན་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲ།
- Particle excluding impossibility མི་སྲིད་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲ།
གཞི་དེ་ལ་ཁྱད་ཆོས་དེ་མི་ལྡན་པ་རྣམ་པར་བཅད་ནས་མཐའ་གཅིག་ཏུ་ལྡན་པ་ཁོ་ནར་སྟོན་པའི་སྒྲ། མི་ལྡན་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of particle excluding non-possession: A particle that, through negating an attribute not being possessed by a basis, indicates that it is categorically possessed [by that basis].

- "Krishna is only a good archer." ནག་པ་འཕོང་སྐྱེན་པ་ཁོ་ན་ཡིན་ཞེས་དང་།
- "Sound is exclusively impermanent." (Sound is pervaded by being impermanent.) སྒྲ་མི་རྟག་པ་ཉིད་ཡིན་ཞེས་པ་ལྟ་བུ།
རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲའམ་ཚིག་ཕྲད་དེ་ཁྱད་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འོག་དེ་མ་ཐག་པར་སྦྱར་ནས་རྗོད་པར་བྱེད་པའོ།
Usage: This particle is affixed immediately after the attribute.
ཆོས་དེ་གཞི་གཞན་ལ་ལྡན་པ་རྣམ་པར་བཅད་ནས་གཞི་དེ་ཁོ་ན་ལ་ལྡན་པར་སྟོན་པའི་སྒྲ། གཞན་ལྡན་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of particle excluding other-possessor: A particle that, through negating an attribute being possessed by other bases, indicates it is possess by only that basis.

- "Only Arjuna is a good archer." སྲིད་སྒྲུབ་ཉིད་འཕོང་སྐྱེན་པ་ཡིན་ཞེས་དང་།
- "Only sound is an object of hearing." (Non-sound is pervaded by not being an object of hearing.)
སྒྲ་ཁོ་ན་མཉན་བྱ་ཡིན་ཞེས་པ་ལྟ་བུ།
རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲའམ་ཚིག་ཕྲད་དེ་ཁྱད་གཞིའི་འོག་དེ་མ་ཐག་པར་སྦྱར་ནས་རྗོད་པར་བྱེད་པའོ།
Usage: This particle is affixed immediately after the basis of the attribute.
གཞི་དེ་ལ་ཆོས་དེ་མི་སྲིད་པ་རྣམ་པར་བཅད་ནས་སྲིད་པ་ཁོ་ནར་སྟོན་པའི་སྒྲ། མི་སྲིད་རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲའི་མཚན་ཉིད།
Definition of particle excluding impossibility: A particle that, through negating the impossibility of an attribute upon a basis, indicates that it is totally possible.
དཔེར་ན། ཨཽཏྤལ་སྔོན་པོ་སྲིད་པ་ཁོ་ནའོ་ཞེས་པ་ལྟ་བུ།
Illustration: "Blue Utpala flowers are totally possible."
རྣམ་གཅོད་ཀྱི་སྒྲའམ་ཚིག་ཕྲད་དེ་བྱ་བ་སྲིད་པའི་འོག་དེ་མ་ཐག་པར་སྦྱར་ནས་རྗོད་པར་བྱེད་པའོ།
